Wow.
Yes, the law allows you to be just about as foolish as you wish. I was 18 once upon a time, and by the grace of The Almighty, am blessed to draw breath this day.
I wear ATGATT not because I'm the next Rossi, Stoner, Hayden, Eslick, Hayes, or McGuinness -- I wear ATGATT because I don't want to be on the Google image search wall of shame for "road rash", or worse.
Furthermore, I, for one, am tired of paying $$$ for the foolishness of others, nor do I wish to be a burden upon those I love, and thus take
simple precautions to reduce those risks.
Who said anything about $500 gear? Just get the best for what your budget allows, or find a different hobby.
Look at that guy's bike, body, and designer clothing... you think he's unable to afford simple gear? And allow me to hazard a reason as to why he was CARRYING his lid instead of wearing it...his ego won't fit.
This forum is replete with members who are still riding and posting with us today because they wore simple gear.
Despite knowing these truths to be self-evident with every ounce of intelligence and common sense within you, go right ahead and rebel away. Redirect all that which you are angry about in your life into your version of a middle finger statement to the world as you ride.
