Hello, I have a 2009 yamaha jx6.
This weekend I installed a gear positioner, it was a plug and play with very minimal interference with the wiring. (One feed from crank positioner a live) the rest is just plug and play...
After instalation when I turned the ignition on I noticed the fuel level blinking on the dash as well as the hi coolent temp... with a noise (blinking) coming from the "fuel" relay at the rear right hand side of the bike...

The bike cranks but does not tick over or start.
Since then ive drained the fuel tank ( i had the tank proped up during instalation) reset the float in the tank so the fuel level indication on the dash has stoped blinking and reading correctly.
I have removed the gear positioner completely and checked every connection over and over again.
I have checked the fuses (under the seat)
I am also getting a costant 2.7k ohms from the coolant sensor which i believe is ok at the temperature.
I have checked the fuel pump with a power probe and it is working.

When I have the ignition turned on with the cut off switch on the off position the temp reads low (bike is always cold so its correct) but as I flick the kill and try and start the engine the hi temp flashes and the ticking from the folonoid comes back on.

I am running out of ideas.

Any help would be greatly apriciated

I have ordered a new relay in hopes that, its what is faulty.

Many thanks

Fellow biker Victor.

I wish I had more for you... the only thing I can think of perhaps a wire got pinched or something? Hope you can sort it, these kinds of issues suck. Best of luck, man.

hey milepig.

thanks i thought of that and i had the bike pretty much to frame wheels and engine in the end....

however!

Solution:

i thought id best post this for some future poor sod can try it before going through what i did!

after watching countless you tube videos and researching other peoples problems etc.. i came across this video from an R6... i know... but it was the immobilizer...

i am not sure what triggered it but i put the red key in and it fired first time.. put the black key in and fired first time.. i live on the isle of man so i had a blast over the mountain and had no issues what so ever.

thank you.
