Howdy, new guy here 👋 just purchased a 2012 fz6 (25k miles) for my sons upgrade from a Z400, got it for a steal. It was clearly neglegted in a lot of areas due to PO’s inexperience. Not completely though. In addition to the purchase of the bike I’ve ordered hundreds of dollars in new parts already to get her in the best tip top condition I can, one of which is a factory service manual. In lieu of eating a week or so so any of these manuals to show up I though I’d ask the most pressing issue here.

Just before I arranged to buy the bike the PO messaged me he had bad news. Said he was riding, here a significant “clunk” and now the bike only goes into first gear and neutral. I pick up the. Ike from his mechanic shop, the “mechanic” said he thought maybe it was only a coupe misplaced washers with in the shift shaft. ( not sure if I buy that personally ) I’m not stranger to bikes and work on them a lot but I’m not sure where to start other than here before a manual shows up. I’ve tried simply adjusting slightly the linkage to said arm but that did nothing. New Barrett clutch is on the way and I’ll be getting deeper into it.

Attaching a couple pics, one of the receipt and part numbers this “mechanic” things it needed ( I ordered them just in case )

Any help is appreciated 🤙
