That is very expensive.... got my 1100, solid white for 287 delivered and the dark smoke shield was 50-60 bucks.....so $350....... frankly I don't see a reason to pay extra for dull graphics since your getting the same protection, then again maybe it is just me :p

I had the same thinking when I bought my Arai... I just got a solid black, but now every time i see graphics i start to second guess myself. I suppose I could put stickers on it but i don't want it to look toooo tacky.

Thats what happened with me, My first helmet was solid black and then I saw other designs and regretted it, so then my second helmet I got designs and haven't complained since.

Designs also show what your tastes are.

Graphics also give other motorists an indication that your head is moving, which may let them know you are thinking about making a maneuver. If you have a solid colored helmet, I HIGHLY recommend that you apply some reflective tape in vertical stripes on the back of the helmet. This serves two purposes: 1) adds visibility at night and 2) lets other drivers see your head move to expect you to maneuver.

that's why u can have more than 1 helmet :)

i will now probably have to put some of those Apple logo stickers on my solid blue helmet to spice it up... <lol> well, at least until i receive the HJC IS-16 scratch, which i exchanged for the scorpion since it didn't fit my noggen so well. (eagerly waiting for it to arrive.)

I picked up a silver Shoei a few years ago as I was getting back into riding, figured it'd match any bike when I got ready to trade up. Once I got my TYB 600R I got a blue Scorpion Crackhead and love it..... and now it matches my TYB 6R as well. The Shoei keeps a clear face shield on it, so if I go for a night ride from home that's when it gets worn.

Got my dark smoke visor for my Exo-700... LOVE IT!!! I thought it would be too dark but its not at all. Its like looking through a light tint of sunglasses. I can see everything much more clearly because there is no glare shining off of stuff. I dont have to squint anymore.

Cant believe I waited 2 years to order one. I dont see any issues in low light situations either. Of course I wouldnt wear it at complete night though.

Highly recommend it!

Nice! I love my dark shield for my EXO-700 as well. It's not terrible at night, but it does make certain areas very hard to see. I have bad night vision due to astigmatisms and the dark shield cuts down on the "star bursts" from steet lights and vehicle headlights.

i noticed motorcycle-superstore has some good closeout deals on graphic helmets like the hjc cl-15 (dot/snell). but, i noticed that getting an anti-fog, smoked visor for it would cost 1/2 the price of the helmet! what's up with that?

yah, i guess that's their catch... $60 for the helmet. but, $30 if u want to upgrade the visor... ou vey

Sounds like the printer companies business model... they realized years ago that people didn't want to pay $500 for a printer... the "cheap" printer companies were blowing them away... but the ink was expensive (smaller quantities, and if you didn't use it within a month or so, it dried out)....
people didn't look at that though...
now you can get amazing printers "cheap", it's the ink that will get you, but it's getting better.

That's actually quite funny, because when I was in college I bought one of the cheapo printers. The ink was so expensive that when it was time to replace the cartridge, I just bought another printer!! New printers usually came with an ink cartridge, and the price to buy a new printer was less than just the ink. So by the end of college I had bought a ton of printers, that I would sell to make my money back.

Safety first! Can't see with the bright sun in your eyes. Can't ride in the sun without some protection, what with skin cancer and all, a tinted visor that blocks all those harmful rays is a perfect solution.... there you go! Justified!:D:D:D

I know, I feel your pain, but if you think it's bad before getting married.... just wait....;)

Preach on Brother Dart! :p

Nah, in all seriousness, what she doesn't know won't hurt her. :justkidding:

I was able to justify my shield purchase because riding to work with the clear shield was becoming dangerous. I was squinting so bad that my eyes would water, just making it that much more difficult to see. She said I could buy it, and the rest is history.

Clear shield with mirrored shades.

For vanity reasons, I would love to put on a smoked shield, but I like (have) to lift the visor on some of the hot days here in the SE...I'll often keep the visor up until about 50 mph. I wear earplugs, so the whistle is far less annoying than the sweating and asphyxiation.
