Been a while since I've posted on here. But it was hot out today and squid season is in full swing. I'm just amazed at the people wearing long sleeve shirts like it's going to offer any protection at all. It's 100º out. You're still going to be hot as hell in the black hoodie under your Icon vest. Might as well wear an armored jacket and give yourself some kind of protection.

Pretty sure this guy has a buddy with a matching White 675R who wiped out last weekend too (8 days ago) . Probably from doing something stupid like this.

You know how difficult that road can be when youre riding properly. Doing stuff like this on this road is just asking for it.

Can't really tell much about the gear here, just a crazy picture. Lean that thing!!!!! lol (Some how I don't think he knew how tight that turn is. I'm thinking he probably heard about that one from the passenger later lol)

There were actually a ton more. Just don't feel like going through more right now. lol.

There's one guy I see out there all the time, I never post his pic on here because he's actually wearing full gear. But he makes a Hayabusa look like a scooter. lol I'm talking probably 6'9" and 350+ His bike looks lowered with him on it.

If you look closely, you can see the sparks he's kicking up. Must be scraping something!

I am not necessarily the kind of guy who harps on some idiot for what he/she wears when riding. I figure if they end up getting scraped off the pavement, that is between them, their family and God.

However, today seemed to be flip-flop Monday. Flip-flops make me cringe because I can imagine several ways a rider can lose a toe or a foot during the most innocent of mishaps.

The first guy I saw was wearing only board shorts, a helmet and flip-flops. I could not get a picture because he went flying by and I never saw him at a light or place I could snap a shot but it was crazy. 30 minutes later...I did get a shot of this guy. Not as bad as the first, but still with flip-flops, CRAZY!

I forgot to turn the camera on earlier when I was riding around. I must have seen a good dozen people out on bikes wearing flip flops, shorts, hardly a shirt and that's it.

I saw a total of one other rider tonight with at least a semblance of gear on. Whatever, it's not me so if they want to have their skin all over the road then that's up to them. It does make me cringe when I see it though...

They were all part of a local club. There are TONS of them here. Most are just guys who get together, want to look "cool" by wearing a cut and no gear. Think it makes them bad a$$.

Of all the things, flip flops just make the least amount of sense in so many ways. You can hurt your foot just walking in them regularly. lol.

Personally, when I ride it's ATGATT. Even if it's 5mins down to the shops, But we all have the right to wear what we like on the roads (depending on local laws). I just hope these people that don't wear protective gear never find out how much flesh would come off when they hit the road at any speed.

I'm on the fence about this. I've got a Y that is about 3/4 mile from my house. Due to time restraints, most of the time I drive there (my knees are trashed so running is not an option for my anymore), but it seems really silly to load up the pants, jacket, and gloves for a 3 minute neighborhood ride. I've crashed on the road on my bicycle at 15mph once and destroyed my helmet. Freakin' helmet saved me from being a vegetable. The road-rash sucked too.

It only takes one incident to change all of that being on the fence about it. It's a risk you are welcome to be willing to take if you want to take it.

I was less than 5 minutes from my old job. I had been gearing up but not wearing pants since I had to change at work. After reading some crash thread or watching a crash video, I started wearing riding pants again. A couple days later, came out of my driveway, turned right, and the bike slid out from under me right next to the mailboxes. I landed HARD on my knee. It was sore for a couple weeks, but no gear, guarantee I would have broken it.

Not trying to tell you what to do, just sharing my experience

A lot of them have the heel shifter attachment for up-shifting. That's how the vulcan I had for a while as well.
