What Not To Wear (while riding)

Maybe he's using road rash as his weight loss plan, just sand a few layers of fat off?

I'm like a 44" waist, and I know I'm a fat bastard. how the hell do you get that big!?

Again, I am not making fun of heavy people, but that crack can be covered if he wanted it covered! I have seen well armored heavy people. And, yes, I imagine he is having a lot of fun! LOL

This guy managed to be fully geared up!

Yeah, but that was way back when I had the zx-12. And the colors matched. Wait wait wait... that wasn't me. Honest.

 Dayum. Didn't realize they made track suits that big.

during lunch saw a guy on the 210 East riding with shorts, short-sleeve button down shirt, sneakers, and no gloves...

rush hour traffic kamikaze... ou vey

Wtf!!!!

Is there nothing that people will not cry about first someone wears jeans and they are the dumbest person on the road and then you cry about people riding to close how about just put the caption over the photo and move on if somebody want to go naked then let em go its not you but keep the finger pointing to your self. We have all done stupid s*** and if you say that you have not then I call B*LLSHI*!!!! I got it, its your opinion just like this little rant is mine.

LOL!!!! I am the same way! I get tired of the folks pointing out how stupid the people are who don't wear full gear, but then get out public roads and use it for a race track. lol! Ummmmmmm........ stones..... glass houses...... something.... lol!!

Post up the funny pics, laugh and move on......

The crack show may be for aerodynamics, when he farts it creats a high pressure zone thus off setting the drag coefficency of his love handles. Or maybe he works at the Casino, as a penny slot.

And THEN we complain about grammar and run-on sentences!

Do you know how many peoples minds we have changed about wearing gear? Lots... So deal with it. You want to be a blood stain on the pavement then fine... But we will point you out and try to convince you to wear gear... Because we care. You choose not to listen then we will call you a squid. Get used to it because we will not stop.

No gear, no idea.

Ride safely, dress appropriately (don't have to go full power ranger if you don't want to) and make that time where you end up on the street the most survivable.

It's common sense, take gloves for example such a minor bit of kit costs nothing in comparison to a decent helmet but...

What happens when you fall over?

You put your hands out to save yourself... Try it at 60mph without gloves.

I've done it at 30 off of a bicycle, having a nurse scrape tarmac and using something akin to sandpaper to clean tar out of my wounds was enough to make me pass out, they didn't screw about with local anesthesia when cleaning my surface wounds.

Better yet then try wiping your own ass...

You want to act like a badass on your ride, try doing it when you've got to ask your parents to wipe your arse for you, then try being out with friends who are trying to cheer you up after your off, getting caught short and having to ask a close mate to help you out.

I'm telling you from my own horrible experience, when you've got your head between your mates legs having just had to ask him to help quietly in front of your other friends and he's wiping your ass, you'll be thinking nothing else but "why didn't I just wear gloves?"

Urban Dictionary: squid

A rider without gear is not a squid, according to this definition. I might be wrong but from what I can see is that some people define squid as a rider without full gear whereas some define a squid as a rider who doesn't wear full gear AND rides recklessly.

I do not wear full gear, I cannot afford full gear. According to your terms, about encouraging people to ride because you care so much about them, shouldn't you then be concerned about whether they smoke or drink excessively or commit crimes or are involved with gangs etc.? Yeah I understand that you have a great chance of being hit or falling off your bike as a rider, but I feel that if someone wants to take the risks then so be it. I will call someone doing a wheelie without proper gear and a proper, legal area, a squid.

Anyways, my two cents. Not wanting to argue, just bringing light to the issue.

Correct me if I'm wrong with the definition.

You can't afford kit, but you can afford a bike?

sorry I'm confused, how's that? Either you got the most amazing deal ever on your ride or you are just trying to justify poor decision making on your part.

What's "can't afford"? An excuse that will bring no comfort to your folk should the worst happen.

In the past few years I have only worn armored jackets, but since comming to this forum and reading all the posts, I have made some changes. Last weekend I purchased a pair of over the pants armor for my me and my wife. Were they expensive? A bit, but less than what my copay would be if I went down and needed medical care. (like I read about the forum member damaging his knee)
I do think it is a personal decision and will not ridicule those who choose not to wear armor. We all choose what risks we take in life. My inlaws are ALWAYS insulting me by implying how stupid I am for riding a motorcycle. I choose what risks I want to take and so do all of you.
