What Not To Wear (while riding)

I rode a lot this weekend. about 160 miles yesterday and another 145 today with my wife. HOLY CRAP!!! there's a lot of people out there this weekend in no gear. Just today, I had to have seen 30 sport bikes with no gear at all. We were gearing up to leave Julian today and 4 bikes roll up, all with passengers, all in either jeans and a tank top or tiny little booty shorts. On the way down the hill we came up on a guy with a passenger on a ZX10 she was in the shortest shots I've ever seen, (Yes hot looking but still stupid) a tank top and flip flops. Guy wasn't riding as fast as I was, but still riding at a pretty spirited pace, horrible form (she was counter leaning through the corners, obviously scared) and with no protection. Just amazing. :shakehead: I'll go through the sites and see if I can find any of them.

Not a ton of pics out there compared to what I saw on the roads this weekend. I have a feeling some of the photographers may be straying away from taking pics of too many of the guys in no gear.

Dude, seriously, that's nothing compared to down here. I've been riding and keeping my eye on bikes for about 3 months here, and in that time, I've seen THREE people wearing jackets, maybe only a few more that had long sleeve shirts, and I have yet to see a single track suit or even any sort of motorcycle pants. This is including multiple trips to the bike shop in town. They sell armored jackets, but the salesman actually told me "I ride a cruiser, we don't wear jackets." Even stranger, there appears to be a sport bike "gang", that all wear the same shorts, t-shirt, and some sort of leather cut off embroidered jacket. At times I wonder if I am the most geared rider in South MS, and I don't own motorcycle pants yet or real riding boots.

At times I guess it's good I got Irish skin, last time I went out without my jacket I sunburned horribly and never want to repeat that

Or here. I never see anybody in the right gear. It's rare to see someone in a proper jacket. It just baffles me.

The salesmen here at least are better than that. Where I bought my bike and some of my gear, I was asking one of the salesmen about textile jackets. He was saying they were fine, etc. but added that whenever he went out he was in all leathers. And he wasn't trying to upsell me either, as their selection of leathers was pretty slim.

People in Virginia I guess in general don't care about their skin.

He should have his left hand applying pressure to the left bar :rant:

My guess is that releasing the throttle and engine braking would upset the dynamics of the bike through the corner... :don'tknow:

Hey don't worry, you could always pull in the clutch, that way you don't engine break. Still not very safe but it would allow you to use your right hand for such a gesture:thumbup:

while I dont have a picture of it I saw a guy today , wearing Full faced Helmet , Nice riding jacket , gloves , shorts and freaking flip flops on a R6....Im like really ? not cool

Unfortunately you see so much of it around here in the summer months. Especially around the beach. Minimal helmet and whatever else they want to wear. shorts, tank tops, no shoes, flip flops.
