Cool Thread ,

Besides bikes love guns as well , I usually go shooting with my father . Still do not have guns on my own as there are certain dificulties to get permissions here .Got a rifle for my birthday which I had to put under his names because i was not allowed to purchase firearms .

We currenly use the following

Ruger 10/22 with cheap 3-9 X 40 scope
CZ P 075 9mm pistol
Smith and Wesson 38 sp model 10
harrington & richardson 20 cal shootgun
remington rolinblock ( used to belong to grandpa )

What a beautiful sight ;) Got 1000 rounds 9mm for $155 at the show this morning. And a brick of .22 for $45. Kind of sad that those prices seem so cheap now, but hey...

Cant belive how much you paid for that !! Here a 50 bullets box goes arround 1200 pesos . Yep .. one dollar per 9mm bullet :(

damn, that's about crazy. I've bought 9mm as low as $0.25 per round on a few occasions. To pay a dollar a round, that's just crazy!

So yesterday I got a little treat. On Christmas day my Uncle asked me if I wanted to go out to the spot he uses out in the canyons to sight in his hunting rifles. He's a big elk hunter and just got a new Weatherby Mark V in .300 that he needed to get sighted in for his next hunt. His collection of firearms could stock a small gun shop. So many he can't actually name them all. He said he was going to bring a few for me to have fun with. So I brought my Glock 17, Ruger 22/45, S&W .38, a Marlin .22 bolt action, and my Dad brought his S&W .357 Mag. My uncle brought the .300 Weatherby, an AR15 he built about 6 months ago, his Springfield M1A .308 and his Christmas present, and brand new Sig 1911 Target .45 ACP (Needless to say he's pretty well off and very generous with family.)

It looked like a small arsenal out there lol. But I got to shoot all of his guns except the .300 Weatherby. (That gun got put back in the case once he got it sighted in to put 3 bullets in pretty much the same hole at 150 yards  ) But he let me put about 150 rounds of .223 through the AR and 100 rounds of .308 through M1A and a few mags through the 1911. What a fun day. That M1A was so much fun. I was shocked when I was shooting 6" groups with peep sights on a rest at 100 yards with it. The AR had a nice Leupold scope on it (not sure which one) but we were actually having some issues with the crappy milspec ammo he got at the last gun show so trying to get consistent groups was difficult. We were just having fun ripping through it ;)

Then to top it off, when we got back to his house, he surprised me with a proposal to give me the AR lower he's working on right now if I help him build it and buy an upper for it. So now in the next couple of months I going to be looking for a decent deal on a free floated 5.56 AR upper.
Does he want to adopt a full grown kid?, no seriously... I'm available...

But for your upper, I might consider getting the .300 AAC upper setup as the rounds have gained in popularity drastically over the last year and are now easily available for less than a dollar a round and I suspect by the end of next year they should be down to around 50 cents or less a round, I routinely see it for around 75 cents per round right now. A much more capable round for just about anything, including hunting.

Wow really? Where are you from? (My app on my phone down want show your location.) I thought $0.15 a round was still expensive for reloaded FMJ. Wasn't long ago 9mm was $0.10 a round for factory ammo if I'm not mistaken.

Uruguay in South America . Yep everything that is imported has pretty much a high value .

1 USD per 9 MM round
2 USD per 20 caliber round for my shotgun
arrounf 1.50 for a 38 round

Guns :

My actual 9 mm CZ P75 goes 1100 USD here as new . Wanted to sell it and change it for a 19 glock which goes 1350 USD.

If I tell you how expensive bikes are here you would not belive . Have been to the states several times , I was amused how low cost a second hand car can get

So come here when you need a new car and load it with as much ammo as it can possible hold and then return home. your savings will have paid for the trip and you can sell off the rest for profit....

Good idea . Usually when I travel abroad I bring back lots of bike gear , gun equipment and technology . Reselling is really good business :)

I wouldn't advice such a suicide trip. One, customs will be a big pain in Mexico and most South American countries. Two, getting robbed on the road is not out of the question especially with expensive cargo.

Shipping a car by boat is probably your best bet.

I thought about 300 blackout. I just haven't seen it much around here. I've watched a TON of Hickok45's videos on YouTube and he seems to love it. I think a huge advantage to .223 for me personally is the fact my uncle has all the equipment to reload. If I buy all the supplies he'll probably let me use his presses. But I am very intrigued by the .300. I've got a little time to find a good upper to meet my needs. I need to stop the bleeding from the gun show and Christmas all in one month lol.

all you would need to reload 300 would be the dies. that's like 40-60 buck and you are in business. actually it would be less as most of the 5.56 dies are interchangeable with them. just the neck and seating dies are different.

So I should have my first AR15 finished in a couple of weeks. I'm starting off with some Magpul flip up iron sights. But I'm going to want to get a red dot on it. Anyone have any experience with any "affordable" red dots in the $100 range? I was looking at the Sightmark Ultra Shot or the Barska Tactical I've never used a red dot on any gun before and I'm not 100% sure how much I'm going to really like shooting one.

They're pretty decent actually, you'll have to re-sight more frequently but for the price why not?
Look for red dots for airsoft guns. Same thing, just cheaper!

Looks good. Just finished my first one too. Went polymer on my lower though. Works great and was super simple. Haven't put a scope on it yet, but broke in the barrel and it shoots nice at 75 yards with flip sights.

When I see those on guns I cringe and scream inside, lol jk for affordable stuff go with Bushnell or primary arms, you will be much more satisfied with the quality. And honestly if you're going for home defense you will be better served justrunning iron sights, I only bet my life on aimpoint.
