Same here seems cool I font know much though some info would be good

Crossfit starter Greg Glassman:

"Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat. Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast. Five or six days per week mix these elements in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense. Regularly learn and play new sports."

Basically it's a strength and conditioning program that also focuses on team spirit, flexibility, coordination, balance, agility, accuracy, power, speed, strength, stamina, endurance...but doesn't like a set "program" per se. I like it as a cross training, during non-lifting days or if it is a lifting day the crossfit I'd do wouldn't have competing movements in it. It's cross training repackaged into a sellable, comprehensible fitness class. It's very good if you have no idea wtf your doing in the gym strength and conditioning wise, or if your bored.

A lot of people do it because of the atmosphere: people get to know each other, it's competitive (it brings out the competitor in you if you've got any, it's not necessarily gonna make you one), and it's always something different. People like it because there's personal trainers to supervise every workout, and hopefully that particular box knows how to program. There's always some sort of method to the madness if it's a good box, otherwise injuries happen and gains don't come true. The only down side is, there's no regulation...anyone can get their Crossfit level 1 (pass the test of course), pay the affiliate fee, open a box, and call it Crossfit. There's some gyms I wouldn't go to, and some I would. Just have to see the web pages of those gyms, and see if there's any sense in their daily programming...if you are questioning it (as in...wtf why would they put three heavy shoulder days in a row?) I'd say come in cautious, and don't do anything you don't want to. Too many people go in everyday of the week, not realizing they're overworking certain movement patterns and ignoring others, because it's not meant to be done everyday. I loved it to get back into fitness after a very bad concussion, but I wouldn't do it more than 3x/week with the strength program I have right now. It's a fitness class that teaches you movements and exercises so you can be more competent on your own.

It's fun, which is why I do it. But I don't take it too seriously.

And depends on the box for the price. My Crossfit box used to be $18/class, now it's $20 or so. Monthly memberships range from $80-$150...the more months you buy obviously the better the deal (they'll charge you less per month). It's for people who have deep pockets, unfortunately, which is another reason why I don't go much anymore. I can do this shit on my own without having to go to a box, but I do miss the people there. However, if you're a noob to the gym, it's cheaper than hiring a personal trainer for 6 months. So that's how they justify the price, because there's always a trainer available to help and supervise (which I think is a fair justification, I just can't afford it right now).

I just you tubed crossfit & after watching it I think I would have a heart attack lol..

Haha it's definitely not a low intensity type of gig. It's more mental than anything else, and knowing when to rest - usually rest with a couple left in the tank...lol.

I have a very very very very very very very very very very annoying problem.
The problem is called a Pilonidal Cyst. This cyst formed right at the top of my butt crack. Sounds all haha funny but it's the worst thing I have ever experienced.

I found out I had one two years ago November. I went to my doctor and they referred me to a general surgeon. He confirms it's the Pilonidal Cyst and we schedule a surgery(remember this was two years ago, not now). I get the surgery. What they did is took out the cyst and a little of the tissue around it then stitched me up. Well it gone infected, as most do because of the location. So I go to the doctor and they num it up and cut it open, I still felt it though....
The next month was literally hell. Imagine not being able to take a dump without worrying about bleeding and ripping the wound wide open again. Imagine having to clean your wound with peroxide and seeing a massive second butt hole. Imagine not being about to sit down.

To this day I have pain. I can't sit in a normal position, it feels like someone is sticking a sword in my tailbone. This past Monday, I could have swore I thought the cyst was back from all the pain I was having. So I went to the doctor. He inspected the area and said the wound looked great and didn't see anything wrong in the area. He told me when they do this surgery they take the fat around the area, that may be causing me the pain because they basically took away my cushion.

The fact that I'm probably gonna have to live with this pain for the rest of my life really pissed me off. I'm not even 20 years old and this pain can bring me to tears if it gets bad enough.

I've been very very angry(pain = anger)

Tuesday, The morning before I went to the doctor I also hit a new personal best on the deadlift. 315x10. Anger was fueling that one, Pure anger.

I needed a few day out of the gym. All this built up anger is gonna make for one hell of a workout Monday.

This sounds like an intro to turning to the dark side of the force, using anger n all to be all powerful.

Seriously though...that really, really blows. I feel you...had a broken ankle for 2 years cuz I didn't know it was broken (doctors told me it wasn't), got bone swelling in it and basically effed over my life physical activity wise, like even walking, for my whole undergrad career (5 years). Then I go to an open gym night at a gymnastics club and they didn't fill their foam pit enough so I shot through it to land on concrete (it was 9ft total drop from my starting point), and that ankle got annihilated. 7 years later it doesn't ache every morning when I wake up, burn all day, swell up like a balloon anymore or decide to dislocate itself too much anymore. I was a very angry panda for most of that 7 years, because I was so incredibly frustrated at the pain and poor functioning. I'm happy about the little things now, like being able to squat, or even walking on cobble stone sidewalk without looking down...so I'm glad you can use it in the gym. I really hope something can be resolved for you soon.

But good job with that deadlift! Kill your workouts this week!!

I used to work out a lot, but took 7 months off from working out.

Lost a lot of my strength and gains.

Its been 2 months since I started working out again and I am nearly back to my old original self. I've been focusing a lot more on my diet, even though I'm not as strong as I used to be, I'm a lot more bigger and leaner.

Only lift, no cardio.

However I started taking a Tae Kwon Do class and just doing minor cardio about 2 hours a week helps soooooooo much.

I'll post more about it, but figured I'd do a "introduction workout post" to get myself acquainted to the thread.

Ok, So I guess I can Dead Lift 405 LBS too: Thus 2 of 3 Gladiator Qualifications met.

Had my first Cross fit session today & part of it was doing Dead Lifts. I was able to get to 405 LBS 1RM. I should be excited, elated even, but my workout was so intense, so strenuous that I don't even seem to care today. Maybe I will be after a nap. That's how much this work-out program took out of me. Cross Fit is no Joke & had I had any food in my belly I would have thrown up(I work out on empty stomach). There is no rest between movements. so I go from running a half mile, to pull ups, to some movement where I drop to the floor, then jump, then climb some ring thing, then hop over a bar then do a clean & jerk, then do a dead lift, then do a (some other odd movement) WTF!! Cross Fit has it's own terminology for movements that I will need to learn. They call something a "blurpie". Seems simple right? SHEEEET!~ 4 minutes into my hour long work-out & I was wondering how much longer I had to go LOL. The coach is great, telling me to do this, do that, no no do it this way. Oh lookie, a jump rope, do this now...WTF! Half way through the hour he says ok everyone, take a 60 second rest.... A 1 Minute rest? That's it? Oh you're a peach!!!!!! (insert 57 curse words here)!!!

Ever see that cartoon where the dudes heart shape is beating out of his chest? Well, that was me today. I couldn't hear the loud music that was playing, I could only hear "thump, thump, thump" at about 170 times a minute! I breathed so hard inhaling/exhaling I could have cracked a rib WTF! So all I did was survive today's first Cross Fit session. That's it, they did put my name on the board for the DL at 405 LBS but that's my only bragging right. I feel like this Cross Fit thing was made up by someone who dislikes me only to torture me. Hard to believe I pay money for this~! I could get beat up by 3 dudes & it wouldn't even compare to what I just did.

So In Conclusion: It was awesome, I love it & can't wait to go back. This Cross Fit stuff is going to just make me a freaking monster. I have no doubt about it.

Lmao. Told ya to take your own breaks. And kids know what burpies are;)
