and for anyone who is bored that would like to read it and give me a review on it that would be great. We had one week to prepare this paper which was required to be between 6-9 pages or more. It had to be on a digital media platform so movie, tv show, game, ect.

thanks to anyone who actually reads it and helps me know how I did, I read it and it sounds great but I want other opinions.

The typical reaction to a videogame is driven from the generation in which you have grown up in, among past experiences in life as well. Modern Warfare has a diverse culture which has formed worldwide, as appeals to the masses for many different reasons. Some people play this game to escape the mundane daily routine they go about day in and day out. Others play it for the comradely they experience when engaging in team based tactics to win matches against others. The most unique part of this entire game is it draws diverse culture from around the world to compete on a competitive level live, and forces them to communicate with one another and work together towards one goal, to win. Some people find video games as childish or just outright a waste of time; and those of you whom feel this way would not see the in depth values someone who enjoys such games would see.

Personally I feel that the game has had a very significant impact on the entire gaming community worldwide. Call of Duty has been revolutionary as far as progressive technology towards technical advancement in the digital industry. The game incorporates an infrastructure which promotes teamwork and leadership, along with a defining line based on skill sets. When you pick up your first copy of any Call Of Duty Game and begin to immerse yourself into the online gaming community you truly start on an equal playing field. The difference between you, and I, and other players in the game is how they choose to make in game decisions, reaction time, and their eyes. There is no advantage to anybodies equipment if set up with the recommended settings other than the size of television. If you compare this to the PC version of many games, it basically comes down to who has more money to spend on their computer which decides who is better.

Historically war has been around since the creation of man. Was has progressively been introduced in new modern ways every decade with newer technology always becoming available. Call of Duty was Birthed in 2003 with their very first rendition of war, which was simply called Call Of Duty. Call of Duty the original game was based upon World War 2. The unique part of this game was the fact it showed the war from three different factions of the worlds army's: The Americans, The British, and The Russians. The objective to this game was to conquer Berlin during a 24 mission campaign. The game combines both the infantry aspect of a being a soldier but it also incorporates mobile attacks from overhead airplanes, bombings, and ships.
Call of Duty was accompanied in September 2004 by an expansion pack, Call of Duty: United Offensive, which was also produced by Activision, but developed by Gray Matter Interactive with contributions from Pi Studios. The game follows the American paratroopers, British paratroopers and the Red army. The Mac OS X version of the game was ported by Aspyr Media. In late 2004, the N-Gage version was developed by Nokia and published by Activision. Other versions were released for PC, including Collector's Edition (with soundtrack and strategy guide), Game of the Year Edition (includes game updates), and the Deluxe Edition (which contains the United Offensive expansion and soundtrack; in Europe the soundtrack was not included). (Wikepedia, 2012)

The next game to follow was naturally Call Of Duty 2. This was the first game which was developed by the company called Infinity Ward for Activision. Again this game focused heavily on World War Two, but this time its directive was between the Red Army, the British Army, and once again The United States. It was "released on October 25, 2005 for PC, June 13, 2006 for Mac OS X and November 15, 2005 for the Xbox 360. Other versions were made for mobile phones, Pocket PCs, and Smart phones." (Wikepedia, 2012) After Call Of Duty 2 Came out it was then on to Call Of Duty 3. The game was Released on November 7, 2006, and surprisingly the game was developed by Treyarch. This was the game in the Call of Duty series not to be developed by the famous Infinity Ward. It was released on "PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox, and Xbox 360. Call of Duty 3 follows the American, Canadian, British, French Resistance and Polish armies after D-Day in the Falaise Gap." (Wikepedia, 2012) Call of Duty 4 was then the most renound game to come onto a consol.

The epic part about this game is that it was the first game to bring war into modern times in a ultra realistic manner, and accompanying political themes in which surround us in today's day and age. This groundbreaking part was unsettling to some, but launched this game to become one of the most successful ever made. This game was actually the first game in the Call Of Duty series to receive a Mature Rating by the ESRB. This game sold for $55 a copy and over 13 million copies were sold as of May, 2009. (Wikepedia, 2012) That a total of $715,000,000 revenue generated from the production of one single game! This had then progressed into the making of Modern Warfare 2, which was just as great of a success. After Modern warfare 2 was released Treyarch started to make a new game which they called Call Of Duty World At War which introduced a new videogame phenomenon which was called Zombies. Essentially the objective was to kill as many zombies as possible and stay alive in an online squad of four people. Due to the nature of the game it drew in an immense amount of sales, again stacking up over 11 million copies sold worldwide. At this point it looked as though Treyarch and Infinity Ward have battled back and forth each year creating a different version of the Call of Duty Franchise. In 2010 Activision stunned the gaming world but having Treyarch once again create the next game, even after they were the creators of the prior game. This went against the last seven years of game creation between the three companies. This game finally broke Treyarch signature world war two theme and led into the cold war and Vietnam war presence. This was done to compete against their competition in the Battlefield series which had just come out with the Battlefield Vietnam series. Blackops was highly successful but led into the new era in which Call Of Duty will forever exist. The era of Call of Duty Elite which is a game management add on which was designed for the newest Call of Duty which is Modern Warfare Three. They individually scan and review each match played to remove hackers and cheaters, along with provide new competition levels for all players. It also created a clan function which allows you to create large teams, track states, and compete together.

Call of Duty started out on the gaming engine which was known as the Quake III engine. At that time nearly every first person shooter game was designed on this gameplay type. The video game was designed for all different platforms as far as gaming which ranges from: Play station 2 & 3, Nintendo WII, Nintendo DS, Xbox, Xbox 360 and PC. The difference between the console systems and PC is the fact the PC can host dedicated servers. A consol PC has to use a non dedicated host system which basically taps into one player in an Online lobby and uses their connection to feel the other 15 players. Now if you have excellent internet being the host gives you an incredible advantage over the other players, where as if your playing against the host you may not play very successful. Unfortunately that factor runs true for all online console games as their have never been dedicated servers as the Multiplayer infrastructure has never been designed to accommodate that. This created packet loss between gamers which is interpreted as "Latency." This is one of the biggest drawbacks to this game due to its highly competitive nature. Some of the best players in the world can be knocked off the top rung not based on skill, but based upon internet connection.

When Call Of Duty very first came out the game was rated as Teen for a more violent game setting beings it was based upon war. As the games continued Modern Warfare came about which led to the very first Mature game rating. Modern warfare raised some eyebrows with a very graphic slaughter of civilians in the hallway because in the game a terrorist cell caused your undercover unit to attack civilians not the enemy. This was very controversial, when the game begins it warns you the contents are very graphic and some story features may offend you, an give you the option to exclude them from the game play. There is a sense to this game that it can be against morals but this can be construed in many ways. The game has and always will be wartime based which means shooting and killing of one another. To some a game like this is highly offensive, but there are also MILLIONS of people worldwide who continue to play these games on a regular basis despite the violent nature. One would say this may cross moral boundaries. Essentially it's not the goal of the game to promote shooting of other humans. The basis of the game is to rid the world of some of the most terrible atrocities known to man. Even though the simple fact of this means killing is okay for certain cause.

Culturally the game has been a tremendous success. Without this game many people around the world would be hard pressed to find something in which they could do to fill their valuable time. Although some see this game as a waste of time, 15+ million sales doesn't go to show this game is a waste in the public's mindset. This game offers refuge to friends who work hard together and just need a break from life and the monotony. The game encourages teamwork and communication, and demands it to be sharp for clan competition. This game definitely impacts our world because it allows Americans to connect with others around the world in countries such as Australia, and in the UK. One of my friends is on Deployment to Afghanistan and he uses Xbox live and Call of Duty to connect and communicate with us on a weekly basis to give us an update. Without this technology communication with him would be relatively limited.

Call of Duty stands for teamwork, communication, and that good will prevail over evil. It's hard to completely understand the message in which the game presents as each person would have different interpretation of it. Most consumers will perceive the message given is that our world can be in shambles, but the American forces will always prevail and regain control no matter the cost. Some may interpret the game condones and allows killing to be acceptable but that is where fiction and a defining value of reality comes into play. All in all, the game has quickly become one of the most profitable franchises in American History and will continue to do this year after year.

With all of this information taken into account it is understandable that most consumers would brush right past any video game and not realize the impact it truly impedes on society. Ultimately Call Of Duty does an impeccable job drawing together worldwide communities, along with friends from the same town and allowing them to connect virtually in a game. It allows a greater understanding of those members from across the world, and broadens our communication skills in a time period in which true verbal communication is almost nonexistent.

As you can see, the steady Increase in profit after all those years of Call of Duty. (Jayson, 2011)<---this went to a graph but it wont show the graph I made :(

What is this paper for?
I ask because Wikipedia is not an acceptable source in any college class.

And what about finest hour, big red one, etc.

In paragraph 5 you begin talking about a great game, describing it, but you don't name it. I know you are talking about cod4 but you need to label that in the first sentence, instead of relying on the end of the previous paragraph for identification.

Other things to watch are over-generalizatins. Ex: there are more differences than servers in a pc and console cod game. You should say (a major difference between console and pc versions are the ability to...) instead of "the difference between" which indicates there is only 1 difference.

Also, I don't know the audience of this article but not everyone knows what a gaming engine Is or some other terms.

Revise this sentence: "As you can see, the steady Increase in profit after all those years of Call of Duty."

If this is for an upper level class, make some corrections. If this is for a gaming community, it looks fine. Just my opinion though.

its for a college course thats based on the analyses of games movies and television shows

Due to the short nature of the assignment Wikipedia is an acceptable source from the instructor.

Thanks for your input :)

As a CoD fan, I love it. As an English snob, it needs a little love. I took the liberty of making a few editing suggestions for the first few paragraphs. I would definitely recommend a wee bit of proofreading on the rest. If it helps you, cool. If you say screw off, that works too. As a note, I *did* usually get high 90's in all my English classes. XD Good luck either way!
