I need a little help from you guys. Mainly from those of you who have experience with hard bags like the Givi bags.
A friend of mine is looking for a new bike. He's a good rider. He's one of the very few people I've let ride my bike and he really likes it. He's got a KTM SuperDuke right now but maintenance isn't cheap on that thing and it belonged to his brother and my friend Robert who passed away about 4 years ago. So he doesn't want to kill it and rack up too many miles on it. He needs something he can ride 2 up with his girl on multi day rides so he needs saddle bags too. On my bike, I use Fieldsheer soft bags on my long distance rides which make it impossible to have a passenger on the back. The mounting straps not only wrap around across the top of the passenger seat but the lower straps attach to the passenger peg brackets and interfere where the passengers legs go. Anyone with hard bags ever ride with a passenger on the FZ6R? How did the passenger like it? Comfortable enough for 2-3 days and a couple hundred miles at a time?
He really wants the Ninja 1000 but the price is a little on the high side for him. He's also looking at the CBR500 which is much more in his price range. But he's a bit unsure about reliability since very few people have ridden that bike more than 15000 to 20000 miles. Where as many FZ6R's (mine included) are well over 40,000 miles and and some well over 50k without major issues. But he really needs to make sure that he can get a set of bags that will be useable while riding 2 up.
