Just came across this youtube video...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d8vNqqtx0s]YouTube - Jeremy "Crash" Moore Memorial Ride 2010 HWY 75 Shutdown!![/ame]

From the title it seems like someone died and this is their memorial ride and they all just piled on the HWY and shut it down. Classy! That doesnt show us in a negative light or anything no?

I'm sorry, but all that reving and showboating DOES make all sport bikers look bad... Plus, look at what those guys are wearing... Hardly safe riding attire... T-shirts? Tank tops?

This is NOT how to promote safe riding in my opinion... This does not project a positive image of motorcyclists...

If I didn't know better and watched this, I'd think they were some sort of chaotic motorcycle gang out for trouble...

I've been to bike meets where ppl are orderly & well-behaved & respectful... The cyclists in this video just don't come across like that...

As much as I love riding, I wish they did a better job of promoting riders out on the road. Last year in portland there were two riders killed. What they did was they had a big group ride, all wore white bandanas in back pocket. When they got to the crash site they hung up the bandanas along the side of the highway. It was more of a we our out on the road too as well as remembering their friends sort of ride. Thought it was a little more tasteful. The whole stunt and burn outs should not be for a memorial ride. Just my two cents

It is very sad that a rider has died, yes. That is all our worst fears while riding. This is NOT anyway at all to "remember" them. Crowding onto the freeway, shutting it down, burnouts, almost none wearing anything for gear, etc.

All this does is piss off all the cagers, as it should. Next time they see you riding I doubt they will have any sympathy for you when they brake check you or ride your ass, or just "not see" you when changing lanes. We dont want to be seen like this.

I want nothing to do with a group like that. We should all be better than that....

I agree completely.

Riding outside his limits is what caused his death.

So at a memorial ride we see burnouts. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that 1 or more "memorial" rider have had accidents in a few years.
If anything, a memorial ride should be respectful of the person who has passed, their family and should reflect on the group who's activity pertained to the accident.

What you think if a firefighter died and ladder trucks scream through the town, spraying water and blaring the sirens?

Memorial=Respect/Dignity

My two cents.

Summer is here.
Everyone ride safe.
Ride within your limits, the bikes limits and the road limits.

yep. it almost looks like the group in that video is just using it as an excuse to get together for mayhem... memorial ride my ass...

Ok, so I am a new, very new rider and I think this is crap! Now if all those riders wanted to really hold a memorial ride for their fallen rider, why not all where their full gear and put an extra large t-shirt on (over their jackets) with his photo and name as big as possible to promote awareness! Then actually ride down the highway instead of sittin there lookin like fools. Get it together people.

I do believe there could of been a more fitting way to honor an individual than this. This gives motorcyclelists a bad name when they demonstate in this attire. I like memorial rides, but in good taste. This almost looks like hellions on the freeway doing a Jerry Spring-a-thon. While I did not know this individual (I do respect all motorcyclelists). I believe we need to be safe in this ever dangerous sport we are engaged in. I remember this image when I was buying my bike that I will never forget. I am troubled when I see a young inexperienced kid looking at a 1000cc+ sport liter bike when his young wife holds a baby and is expecting another. I keep thinking all he cares about is screaming down the freeway 100+ MPH with his tail on fire with his buddies. What family would not a father around. Either there needs to be more track access for those speed demons or more education. Please do not use the streets to test the speed limits. It all boils down to being safe. Ride safely, avoidance of drugs & alcohol, Limit your speed, wear the right protective clothing, bike maintenance, & never stop educating yourself on responsible riding. Irresponsible people are asking for trouble. Please be as safe as possible out there!
