I think the more important question is whether any upcoming changes are anything more than cosmetic. The old Ninja 650R really did need an upgrade in a lot of ways that went beyond paint and plastic. Personally I could see a cosmetic upgrade to the 6R, but doubt they would go anything beyond reshaping the fairing, maybe updating the headlight and a few other cosmetic items of that nature. An adjustable windscreen like the Ninja would be really nice too, even if it's only (like the Ninja) adjustable with tools.

:: phew :: Thought I was gonna regret jumping onto a 2012 this summer. I still think the 2011 copper was king, followed by the black/red. This new one doesn't really do anything for me. If I ever got a 2013, I'd have to remove all those decals.
Is it me or are they only offering that one blue and black with decals theme for the 2013?
Not that the blue isn’t a nice color but that theme is acutely extremely disappointing IMO.
only part I noticed is different is the grab bar is now a two piece

Liked the color scheme. THe cooper raven is far the best looking in my opinion. I think one of the reasons I urged to trade in out of my 6r that I didnt find a cooper to buy and end up buying the black one.

The new blue, black, and white graphics are pretty sharp looking in a sort of retro throwback way. It reminds me of the graphics on their '90s line of snow machines. However, I still like my blue and white scheme better.
I took a 2012 Super Ténéré on a test ride this spring. I loved it, but definitely know it'd be an addition to the stable, not a replacement for my FZ6R.
I would go with the 2012, you could probably get a better deal since they need to make room for the new inventory...but thats just me

I wonder how interchangeable the plastics are between years. That way you could always just swap the plastics..
At least they brought the wet weight of the 2013 R1 back down to 454 lbs. The 475 lbs of the 2012 was getting shat on in all the reviews. It doesn't seem like they improved engine tuning at all, which won't improve the reviews. But, the shedding of 21 lbs should help a bit.

My ducati is a twin. Vibrates a lot but for some reason my hands won't get numb as fast as the fz6r.
One of the mechanics here said the big difference is the frequency of the vibration. Don't know if it's true or not.
How many years was copper offered?
I like the 2013, it just looks sportier to me and kinda reminds me of Rossis old Fiat scheme.I cant help but notice the gytr on the side.I wonder if a gytr exhaust and stuff is on the way
Tough about you yesterday. I went to the Ducati/Triumph stealership to get some parts for my boss 93 907 IE. I took a little tour of the showroom... DANG! The Streetfighter 848 is a bad a$$ ride. But the one that cough my eyes the most was the Multistrada Pikes Peak edition. Like I said I'm getting that thing for adventure bike. I'm still in denial... LOL Like not being able to admit you like big butt...LOL
