you still gotta get some money, you can buy old used one and keep riding. my first bike was xs400 and I really loved it, though I would recommend xs650 or some 4 cyl. any of them you can gut under $1000

I am so sorry J, maybe some good will come out of it and in a short time you may have a new bike again! If it's any consolation I am unemployed and I had Carpral tunnel surgery on my right hand and on July 18 will have it done on my left, not to mention my put of pocket medical expense and child support on top of that! Hang in there buddy if there is anything I can do for you let me know!

Damn. I seriously feel for you. I was bikeless for several years, and it sucked. I had a 2000 Ford F150 SuperCrew Lariat, that I had to sell for what I owed on it. Also sucked.
My options for the future were not as bright as yours, however. I was simply unemployed and broke. I suck at finances. I nickle and dime every paycheck, doesn't matter where I've worked or how much I was making, I always had no money.
I'm not the one to give financial advice, so I won't. I can only wish you the best, so that I shall. Best wishes, brother. May your decisions work out to your gain, and may you get back on two wheels as quickly as possible.

it sucks its only about 50 bucks a pop and they let you do it twice a month , woman can sell their eggs and can make pretty decent money , like 5000 grand but you have to go through a very intensive screening process , wait for someone who wants traits that she has and then no sex with the old lady for a while , while the process is going on
I know exacly how you feel. Years ago, when my wife was going to school to become a nurse, we weren't exactly rolling in the dough. But it was MORE than worth it. She now has a stable full time job, a part time job that she works on some days off, and makes very good money. Things will be good for you in the end...when she is done school and working, you'll be able to get the 'next' bike and be on two wheels again. Then when you look back at the time you went without a bike, it will seem like a very minor hiccup in your riding "carreer". Cheers.:iconbeer:

Yes you are right..more $$ to be made,but if I loved my bike just like "J" loves his I could not stand to tear it apart and see it go piece by piece
I hope things turn around Jay. I don't have any other suggestions from what everyone else has already said. But I do commend you on thinking of family first, and everything else second, that's what matters.

I meant remove the expensive aftermarket parts and replace with the stock parts that hopefully you still have. Between this website and ebay you should generate a lot of cash on the aftermarket items. Then sell the almost stock bike for $4500.

Jay has a newer YZF-R6. It'll sell for a lot more than $4500...
You're doing the right thing. Family first. You'll have plenty of time to enjoy the toys later.
Everyone always laments why they always pull up next to Sportscars and there is some old dude in it. It's because the old dude can afford it, because he took care of everything else first. And it's much sweeter to that old dude for having to wait for it than it would have been if he got it much earlier, and had to sweat all kinds of other stuff knowing he had it in the garage.
I had to make a very similar sale once, my dream car. Glad I did, and I still miss that car, but it's always the right decision.

As far as the car goes though, even though it would cost you more every month, I would still keep Comp/Coll. coverages on it. Maybe just raise the deductibles up to 500 or something. You dont want to be totally without a car then also should the unthinkable happen and now you have no reimbursement or help from the insurance company towards repairs or replacement..
