The bike may be totaled....

 CRAP!!! Thats like what I was thinking for the whole yard.. What size yard you got? We have between .25-.33 acre, unless we get neighbor approval it will have to be in two feet of the line also (I had the idea of losing all that sq footage!) I want the vinyl coated chain link also, about 5ft high. I dont know if I can, but might have to try doing it myself.. use a riding lawn mower to pull the chain tight and sink the posts in the lawn with cement?

I have no clue of the size of the lot in acre. hahahahaha.

Got a picture from google earth

Its an old picture and doesn't show the new fence.

The white line is the new vinyl fence 6ft tall with the gate right next to the house.

The purple lines are pre existing chain link fence. They are all falling apart. I wouldn't recommend. Looks cheap in my opinion and the grass grows in between the links and is a pain in the ass to trim.

So saving money to fence the rest of the lot.

Sorry for the :hijack:

Agreed, it will work well for us I think, and we both kinda like it. My wife isn't crazy about the fairings, so the Switchback would be hers later down the road, when I am able to get the big touring bike that I want. Just depends on what happens.

Yes, tons of accessories....and since I am the modwhore, it very well could cause a heart attack...

I've just never understood the batwing fairing. They just look bizarre to me. Even if they were supremely good at blocking and channeling wind, I personally couldn't live with the look.

Having said that, you should always research how well a windscreen works on a motorcycle. I know that a few Harley's have very turbulent windscreens that require cutting/replacement/lower deflectors to be tolerable.

Chad, sorry to hear about the bike being totaled.

Have you heard anything from V&H? Maybe you can get them to pitch in some money towards the next bike. :D

Talked to the insurance adjuster today. With our deductible ($375) coming out, we are looking at a payout of $9724.68. Our price to buy back the salvage, is $2963. Coming to a total payout of $6760 if we take the bike back. I think I can fix it for $750 roughly. Would leave about $6000 for me to put down on another bike...:D then we could have two again.

Or, we could just forget the whole thing, and take the whole $9724 and put down on a bike for us to share. Decisions, decisions.

Damn, thats a nice payout... Right? Well, it is YOUR financials so only YOU know what you can afford.

If I could afford it (thats a hell of a down payment) I would keep the bike and fix it and use the rest as a killer down on another bike. This way you can ride together which is much better than 2 up.

OR...Keep the bike, fix it and take that $6k and pay off other debt. You still have a bike you can both ride and you are killing off a lot of other debt.

I think I would actually go that route. Once other debt is paid off, save up for another bike if thats what you want.

Sorry, I just got hit by some kind of responsible bug there or something...

I agree 600X over again
