I wish that they would just call me, and give me a status update. I haven't heard anything, and they have had the bike almost two days. The FJR and Stratoliner are out. The FJR is too much to insure, and the Stratoliner just doesn't suit our needs after looking at the lack of features. Wondering if we are going to be able to decide on any bike if the Vulcan gets totaled....

Call them. I had to call on both my wrecks and it was all done but they just never called me.
Hmm two bikes that I was hoping to get myself for Amy and I next yr if can swing it after getting the yard fenced in for the dogs.
Right now the FJR doesnt have enough weight capacity for my big butt, luggage/cargo and wife... hoping a rumored update increases capacity.
But can I ask how much the FJR was to insure?
Stratoliner, Victory Cross County or Vulcan 1700 are my cruiser style choices (wife prefers this over sport tour style
) Can I ask what the lack of features were?Thank you in advance!!

For us, the FJR would be $716/year. That is compared to $110/year for the Vulcan 900, and I was paying $189/year for the FZ I think. We are not huge fans of the Vulcan 1700 Vaquero because of the rear end, and the front fairing does seem kinda goofy. The Stratoliner Deluxe is okay, but in person, the fact that there is no passenger floorboards, dash mounted gauges, crash bars, abs is really a drawback. Compared to similar bikes that have items like that. The Harley's and Victory's are our main choices, the Victory's less to insure, but the wive not crazy about them. The Harley's my wife likes better, but more to insure, by a little less than double. Very difficult which way to go...
yeah, I dont like the Vaquero (spelling?), but there is a 1700 I think with saddle and trunk bags and a nice back rest.. forget the name of it but thought it was a 1700. My wife is the same way... She loves the Harleys, but myselft, I cant pay extra for basically the same stuff and just paying for the name.

You must be thinking of the Nomad....I haven't heard very good things about that bike. Maybe try to go to a Harley Dealer, and talk to them....they convinced me a little bit, maybe not just for the name. They have a lot of great things that no one else does.

Good luck with the fence. I just did one section with vinyl and a self closing gate. $3500.00. Still got 2 more sections to go

CRAP!!! Thats like what I was thinking for the whole yard.. What size yard you got? We have between .25-.33 acre, unless we get neighbor approval it will have to be in two feet of the line also (I had the idea of losing all that sq footage!) I want the vinyl coated chain link also, about 5ft high. I dont know if I can, but might have to try doing it myself.. use a riding lawn mower to pull the chain tight and sink the posts in the lawn with cement?- Thread starter

I think that we are going to check out the switchback....little cheaper than the Street and Road glide and we both kind of like it. This will get us into the Harley party.

Saw that a few months back in all the mags... Very nice looking bike. Nice cruiser for everyday use or Tourer for when needed!

I called the insurance guy at lunch time today and he never got back to me...still have no idea what will happen....I would think this long would mean bad news.

Out of the ones you posted, I like the street guide the best. I'm not much for Harleys but if it were up to me, that'd be the one that I would pick.

2 year factory warranty, with included roadside assistance where they will tow your bike, fix it, give you money for food and shelter all free, and extendable up to 16 years, standard crash bars (not on stratoliner) passenger floorboards, gap+ offered (haven't seen any others offer gap), value, victories hold value about the same as Harleys, but no metric does.

The Switchback seems like a good choice. Definitely one of the nicer looking Harleys.
One of the best things about Harleys is the vast assortment of accessories available.
