I would go for something in mesh+ white even if it doesn't match your bike to perfection. The next set of riding gear will be white perf leather for the summer. I can't stand sitting in NYC traffic in black mesh but I want more protection at the same time.

I bough a Technik grey and white textile jacket a while ago. Now it's grey and turd yellow from all the bugs guts. I tried to clean it, bleach it... not getting back to white anytime soon.

I've got an old "Motoboss" mesh jacket, I've had it for years. Living in a desert climate, it sees a lot more use than my heavy leather jacket.

That's what I'm using right now... since I bought the bike. Was the best $70.oo I spend. It's getting a bit beat up now, I kind of use it almost every day.

I have the Joe Rocket and love it...it gets hot if you not moving, but other wise is quite comfortable!

I purchased it many years ago at Cycle Gear, IIRC. I don't remember what I paid for it, nor do I know it's denier.

I do know it is comfortable and has proper padding in the right places.

You do have to hand wash it, so every month or so; I throw it in the bathtub and hand wash it, rinse it and hang it outside to dry.

For long rides during the summer, I put a cooling vest on underneath it and that works great. The mesh allows the air to hit the cooling vest and it acts like a "swamp cooler".

I purchased the Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0 and so far so good. Rode in 95 degree weather yesterday and got a little hot while at redlights but while moving it breathes real well. I say go for that one.

Use to be Cycle Gear brand. Been replace by Bilt if I can remember. Great jacket for the $$$. Might be able to dig one out somewhere... I got the yellow/black one.

Sidici is the new "upper brand" name of CGear. Bilt are good but look and feel cheap a bit in my opinion.

I bought my jacket at leatherup.com. they always have good deals going on.

It's being about 2 months and the jacket is holding pretty good and I only paid $89.00 bucks.

No, there is no restriction in any way... here is a picture of mine. They cool your "CORE" and that keeps the whole body cool. They work better in lower humidity or dry areas, though. If you are out on a long ride, it is easy to stop at a convenience store or gas station, buy some bottled water and re-wet them, as they get dry after about 90 minutes or so (depending on temp and humidity).
