Semi related funny story Don. I knew an old guy that lived up in the mountains a few miles behind my place,he's gone now. He used a rain barrel to collect drinking water. He used to pour a thin layer of used motor oil on top to keep the mosquitoes out of his water. He would just brush the oil aside and dip water for drinking or coffee.

I thought about that... but might have a hard time come expense report time explaining (after riding into work) that the motorcycle fork oil was for work purposes.... :D

Premix oil is 10w , but expensive to .
Every time I come to the fork in the road on the way to work I have to put oil in , thus fork oil is needed . :)
Yeah TS HD oil is the least expensive .

Anyone have a link for SAE10W motor oil? Single viscosity?

This has nothing to do with the bike...

for those with peaked interest...

Being used to keep water from evaporating in a bucket for rainfall monitoring. We tried mineral oil, but it froze (or got real thick) during the winter.
thanks

try auto tranny fluid but kind of curious if the oil freezes what about the water under it /mabey even vegetable oil or canola oil
