Hi gang. I want some luggage for my FZ6R that will work good for general commuter use to store riding pants, jacket, gloves, and possibly boots when I get where I'm going (mostly for summer activities), and will also serve well for light weekend touring. Seems to be lots of options from Ogio, Givi, Alpinestars, Kuryakin, Firstgear, etc.. Comments on what you prefer 'and why' would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I purchased the Yamaha rack from a dealer in Vancouver Canada. I already had the Yamaha top box from my T-Max (I believe it is made by GIVI). Works like a charm, it's relatively waterproof, 44 liters, lockable and will hold a lot of stuff. You can even lock two full face helmets in it. Not a cheep option for sure but when I don't want it on I just flip the key push the button and off it comes. If I need more room for a trip I use an Ortleib bag I got from Aerostich. It bungies down to the sides of the rack and I have enough space for a long weekend tour. Good luck....Gary

PS... I posted some pics here on the site.

Here is my setup....
I now have a tall windscreen and center stand and I secured the saddlebags even better. All hard bags would be great, but not cheap and I already spent some bucks on the top case and rack. I also have a tail bag that secures to the Cortech Saddlebags and a tank bag. Enough storage for a trip of any length really.
I will post a better pic (from behind the bike) in a bit.

A few more pics....
Saddlebags look like they are sagging, but believe me, they are on there solid and never move even a millimeter. What do you think of my son's bike helmet as a "Fender Extender" :):)
I basically store my helmet, overpants, gloves and sunglasses in the topcase (when I commute). I keep all my raingear in one of the saddlebags and misc junk in the other saddlebag...nothing valuable. What can I say...I like to have everything with me, always.
When taking weekend trips, I leave basically nothing on the bike (take saddlebags into lodging) and rarely even leave anyting in the topcase overnight.

I really do need to get flushmount turn signals for the front of the bike...I just don't like the orange sticks!

Here are my bags on the bike and a reference pic showing that a gallon of milk would easily fit in the saddle and tail bags, maybe even two in each bag. :steve:

The saddle bags are the Nelson Rigg Silver Streak SSC-150 and the tail bag is the Nelson Rigg CL-100.

Cool and good info on hou you use your luggage Sammy. BTW - what brand windscreen is that and where did you purchase it?

lol . . . mine has flush mounts on front (I put originals back on the back again) but still has the flush mounts on the front because I didn't get the original fronts when I bought the bike. If you want to sell your originals let me know how much you need for them :)

Hey 99vengeur . . . that looks like a nice set of soft luggage that seems to 'fit' the FZ6R nicely. Like the milk shots too, real good way to show relative capacity. Thanks muchly :)

It's a Cee Bailey's windscreen, 26" high and they have their own website. Mine was a prototype and the final version is only 18" high. The folks at Cee Bailey's can provide all the info you need on their products. I assume they figured out a way to still optimize air flow, but at a lower height.

With these bags, do you need to purchase any other supports or frames to support this luggage.

Nope! They attach with straps and buckles that are all included with the bags.

Do your saddlegbags move around at all or are they solidly still when moving? Eventually my bags will wear so I am just curious how they all perform.

I actually haven't gone anywhere with them on the bike yet. But when I had them on, they didnt seem to move very freely. Once I get the chance to ride with them, I will provide an update.

However, all Nelson Rigg bags come with a lifetime warranty. So if they do wear out, you should be able to get replacements.
