whatever

just bought a 09 yam fz6r today , pick up the bike this tues. they had a blue, white and yellow one.

went with the white one, the bike has 3 rebates so the price was 5149.00 plus my 2010 ninja 250 r which they are giving me 3000.00 so i will save about 240 in tax so about 3240 i guess.

the ninja was not that great on the highway so i went wit a bigger engine and the price on these bikes are awesome. cars were blowing by me all the time i like keeping the rpm under 8500.

so 2149 plus tax and the ninja which was only 3 months old. does this sound like a bad deal ?

have a few questions

how do you all jack up the swingarm with no where to install the spools.

so now my rpm will be lower but wind will be hard to deal with on the interstate the most i go is maybe 75 to 100 miles on the thurway.

and what 1st 3 mods would be good to do right off the bat.

on the ninja the rpm are about

8500 to 9000 rpm at say 70 mph

does the fz6r do any better, must with the bigger engine ?

I did pipe and jet the250 about 30 hp or so when i was done, im sure the 6r will be little faster.

the bike was great one of the best bikes i ever owned, but could not keep up with cars and trucks that well.

but some guys ride at 10 and 11 rpms on that bike for miles, i was not sure if the motor would last long, but i hear that
motor loves to reved.

fz6r is much lower than that. even with a -1/+2 setup it's less than 8500 rpm at 75mph. you'll be fine with stock gearing.

Dont worry my friend you're going to be able to keep ahead of cars and trucks...you can crusie all day at 100mph if you want. Welcome to the forum:) Best mod is the fender and plate eliminator that you can buy for around 30 bucks on ebay...I think everyone agrees that the stock one is a tad big. I kept the stock turn signals but lots of people have switched to LEDs...they just werent for me...

Congrads. At 6k, your about 70MPH, 7k 80MPH... with the stock setup. I ride freeway daily to work...and I don't get passed. :)

I agree, the FE is first to get then maybe a Yamaha or Puig double bubble or wait for the few companies that are working on some new ones right now. If you want to spend $$, a full exhaust and juice box.

congrats on the bike. I ride highway to and from work everyday over 50 miles each way and run at 75mph stock gears all day long. no worries

got mine yesterday for 5500 + tax+lic, CA seem to be a lil + expensive or maybe i didnt bargain enough! rode 100 milles back home part of it next to the ocean i loved it! what frame sliders you recomend? online order?

so how was your OTD price?

First, did you check your local craigslist? You live in NY so I bet a lot of people have scooters or so to get to work since a lot of things are close to/within walking distance. Ninja 250R gets about 61 ~ 70 MPG. Around here, the newer 250R models (08, 09, 10) would range about 3,200 - 3,700 used. When you trade into dealerships, the bike has to be checked etc etc for it to be resold on the lot, that's where the price goes down on it.

You say your 250R is 3 months old? And not to mention a 2010? Sorry but that sounds like you sold it off/traded it for less than it was worth. Also, you didn't mention if there was any damage, or how many miles on it. My sister recently got into bikes and bought an older but still the redesigned model (2008) 250R with only 1680 miles on it for about $2650 here on craigslist.

Now for the questions, most members use Harbor Freight Swing Arm Stand. We don't have a place to mount the spools unless you use Evo-Tech that mounts on to the axle bolt. If you do this then you can't adjust your chain because you need to loosen the axle bolt. So the only way really is to mount the rear from the swing arm.

The first 3 mods that I recommend is Fender Eliminator kit to get that mudflap off.
Frame Sliders in case of a tip over.
Two Brothers Racing Exhaust (if you have the money), otherwise if you're short on cash get HID lights or Flush Mount Turn Signals.

did not do to bad on price they gave me 3000 and i will save 240 in tax so 3240.

but if i sold for 3240 i would pay more tax... another 272 so together about 3512 yes that is cheap for 2010.

the bike was mint will about 3950 miles....but if i waited for bike to sell the 09 fz6r for 5149 would be long gone he ony had 3 left and the rebate just went to 700 from 200 dollars last week...... so they will sell quick at that price

so the big discount on the yama will cut some of the lost on trade.... in way i will get most of my money back !!

now i wil have a 7000 bike now instead of a bike selling MSRP for 4 grand. DOES THAT MAKE SENSE !!

other dealer near me want 5995 or more and some charge for set up and freight so i had to move on the price to purchase ....right away !!!!

on the stand i have a DMP for the ninja....and i found out that i can buy the L shaped pads that slide in this stand to work with swingarms with no holes for spools.

15/16 bucks
