An extra caution!

Like I've said before here, I ride like everyone is trying to kill me. I never ride along side a cager. I either slow down or pass them, and always leave room next to them...just in case they swerve for debris or decide to change lanes suddenly. I also always ride in the farthest left lane or farthest right lane, but never in the middle....unless passing or what not. This way I always have an 'out', either the center divide or the right shoulder. Always try to anticipate someones move BEFORE they do it. i.e....If the lane opens up in front of you, anticipate that the fool in the other lane is going to jump into that opening. Riders getting more training is always a good thing, but like Dart has said, the cagers need it as much if not more than us. Keep it safe out there and don't add to those stats! :Sport:

I always leave myself a safe out. Sometime you cannot get one and I get real paranoid when that happens and I find the fastest way to get the safety buffer again.
The Women in SUVs seem to think that because they are female all men should open the doors for them, (let them go first at stop signs if they arrive after you) and they just take the right of way and pretty much blow the stops. I had one do this after I started forward through a stop and I hit the Stebel Magnum right at her door at point blank....messed her up....LOL

So far I have been lucky and have been able to anticipate the other driver's F-cked up moves and stayed out of danger. I do the same moves in a cage so I just treat all the other drivers as me in a cage and it works...

The fast lane changers and then slam the brakes in front of you make for an interesting avoidance maneuver.

I believe that the bikers should get more training to avoid the cars because it is your life and your chance to avoid the crash but I also believe the penalties for cagers should be 2x or 3x when a motorcyclist is involved and it was the cager's fault. Something like a restricted license until a comprehensive course is completed in proper lane changes etc so that no cars or motorcycles are hit again. Increase the penalty fast for a repeat accident when a motorcycle is involved again and it was the cager's fault.

I have noticed a lot of guys on cruisers that appear to be noobs around here. There is a noob on a CBR 1K at work that blocked me in the other day.
So I do agree that there are some new riders with less than perfect skillsets on the road that is increasing the accident percentage...

I drive an SUV and I always give a bike the right of way - out of courtesy.
I have also blocked bikes from being struck by other cagers with my SUV in the past as well.

Most noobs are Cruiser riders here and are scary to ride with. Most are OGs in their late 50s 60s that have just taken the MSF - (most first time on a bike) and can't be taught new stuff no matter what. None of them know how to maintain lane position, they are over here now they are over there - it's exausting riding behind them. They know nothing about staggered riding (freaks me out when I check my flank and one is right there next to my tail light, WTF? what would happen if I had to suddenly swerve? Hubby has a friend (Harley Rider  of course) that likes to ride old school, ie mirror to mirror with me. I'ld hate to think what would happen if I have to make a lane change. I've told hubby I am NOT riding with this guy any more!

I tell ya if they rode with our local sport bike group they would be hung!!!! Those guys ride in formation like fighter pilots!

All make good points!

1 Now in the cage I notice bikes more.
2. Those tar strips are BAAAAD. they are higher than the road here in NY lately.
3. Ive had two real close calls lately and now im scared people are gonna turn left on me in my car!! Seriously.
4. EACH AND EVERY time Id see them and I KNOW they see me....we make eye contact...and then....they just Bam...Turn in front of me...

Then when you like STF..they are smiling and tee hee..Im so sorry...I didnt see you......Nothings Funny Lady...Im freakin YELLOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know nerves may make them sorta laugh but im gonna kill the next person that smiles and is like..Im sorry..hehe after Ive laid rubber on the road to avoid slamming into you!!!!

I ride VERY defensively but it just dont matter...they will do what they want. I also think we are more aware of it on bike vs the car/truck. as on the bike our melons squash much easier!!

My nickels worth
