    Help! Black Sticky Gunk

You can't lose a finger to a reciprocating saw? That's new. Seriously, I'm looking for the door. Please delete my account. All I did was try to help and offer an opinion and despite what you say, people have dogpiled me and have flamed me for just doing what they do every day.

    Help! Black Sticky Gunk

Anybody else want to dogpile me because they don't agree with what I said? I didn't know I had to placate liability here when offering opinons. We ride motorcycles, kids, it's all dangerous. There's been advice on this forum on how to hack exhausts, cut out cats, and do all sorts of...

    Help! Black Sticky Gunk

What kind of work ethics are those? So the process is too dangerous for your peace of mind. Are you seriously trying to censor my opinion and trying to tell me to not express it?

    Help! Black Sticky Gunk

I've done it several times and so long as you use common sense and put the rag on the "downstream" side of the sprocket you're ok. Put it on the side that doesn't try to drag your hand to the rear sprocket. Mine idles at 5 mph, tops, when sitting like this. I didn't mention it, but use a...

    Help! Black Sticky Gunk

Yeah you definitely want to degrease it periodically as well. Adding that much to it over time can cause problems like this. Get a good chain cleaner from Auto Zone, ride the bike around until it warms up, put the bike up on a rear stand like a pitbull, and let the bike idle in first gear. While...

    Nonsense Comparison

Agreed. I've seen them thrash a new model year bike because it didn't really innovate rather than update. ABS, even when lowered in price, should still be an option in my book just because it has the opportunity to really mess up a rider if it works against them. In a cage, since they are...

    Traded the old girl in.

That's the one thing that sticks in my mind here, when I see the 100 ponies part. Our 6R is a detuned and weighted down R6 engine. If they would sell the 6R with the stock R6 engine and trim the weight it would be a beast in the US market. Great fuel economy compared to a car, comfortable riding...

    Nonsense Comparison

I'm not a fan of ABS only because it allows a computer to try to fight me when I need the bike to do what I am commanding it to. I think of it the same way as if they put traction control on these things. You've got to be pretty far out on the edge to actually feel the adverse affects of...

Novice - Choosing his first helmet?

I know you said OTHER than a dealer, but that's a pretty good option actually. Try anything generic powersports, and believe it or not, some boat dealers might have sportbike full face helmets. Speaking from experience, there's nothing worse to a start of a day on a gorgeous spring/fall lake...

    6R down and out...

Doing both might work. Like I said, those things have to be nose into the wind for them to work, so it's getting one to work all the time or finding a way to combine them in multiple locations to ensure operation without looking like a sea anenome rolling down the road that's tricky. For me...

    6R down and out...

I've thought about getting a set and trying it, but getting it on the right face of the fairing would be difficult since it has to be pointed directly into the wind.

Hard braking in cold weather, is this normal?

Use more front brake rather than rear in colder weather. Still be cautious until the tires warm up, and always leave yourself extra space, but use more front. The weight shifting from rear to front will make it push into the pavement more and bite a little better.

    FZ6R Sightings

Saw a squid running up PIB be the other day on a mostly stock raven fizzer, acting like a total tool, open carrying a .45 on his hip. I'm not against carrying on a bike, I just think it's a total douche move on his part to open carry on the bike. Tail gating, almost lane splitting (illegal...

    MotoGP today (Spoiler Alert!!!!)

146k in a straight line? Jeebus. I thought 30 miles in New Mexico was a pain to stay awake for. That road is either famous for fatalities or just doesn't get used that often I would suppose.

Probably the biggest fail i've had happen to me in my riding career....

That's not a bad idea. I'm going to contact GADDS to see if they'll do the same thing from time to time.

    Worst Fear while riding?

Asian women, since they are the only ones I've seen do it, who use a piece of cardboard to block the entire side window that the sun is coming through so they can see straight ahead better. How do they check the lane beside them? Good question, I haven't figured it out yet either. Also...

The vest would only help if she looked, in this instance. Otherwise, true, it is the risk we all run. Everyone stay safe.
