NEW 2011 Ninja 1000? Upright Riding Position.

Just bought a Ninja 1000 in Kawi green (only available in Canada). I pick it up Saturday. Nice looking bike with lots of power and hard bag options.

when is best time of year to buy motorcycle

I have purchased 5 new street bikes and 4 new dirt bikes over the past 4 years. In researching these purchases I found the following: - Most manufacturers have a sales cycle for the latest model year that starts with the high prices in the spring and adds incentives as the summer rolls on...

    gel seat?

I took my seat to my local upholstery shop and they put an inch of memory foam in it. Works perfect. Call around your local area until you find the shop that does bike seats. My local guy does 100+ seats a year and does a great job.

    After Market Tires

I have Pilot Road 2's on my ZX14 and will be switching to them on the FZ6R when the OEM's are done. Much better in the corners.

I've update the "how to" with the required extra bits to build your harness. You can also buy the harness to the battery from Powerlet directly.

    Odometer is off too!!!

Good feedback Spunky. I guess my memory wasn't perfect. I was going to take the plastic piece off if I wasn't able to get the chain on. Removing it is a better solution. I did take the shift arm off the spline though. Your suggestion is better in that you don't have to mark the...

    +1 up front = great!

"How to" instructions for this mod At the request of Roaddog in another thread, I'll post up the how to on this mod. 0) Before starting determine whether you are going to use a new sprocket nut or reuse the existing. I reused the existing. A new one will require a trip to your dealer...

    Odometer is off too!!!

I should have taken pictures. I usually do. This is what I did: 0) Before starting determine whether you are going to use a new sprocket nut or reuse the existing. I reused the existing. A new one will require a trip to your dealer. -There are 2 steps that require a second person...

    Odometer is off too!!!

There is a hard plastic chain guard that sits close to, and above, the front sprocket. It takes some force to deform the guard when you push the +1 sprocket and chain onto the spline. Once it's in place there is no interference. I can see how others may have removed it to make the install...

    Fried Chicken!

Well, they did some good marketing on that tires design. Sounds like they are good tires too.

    Odometer is off too!!!

A couple of other pointers: -You need a rear stand -You will need to loosen the rear axle and adjust it all the way forward. -You will need someone else to press hard on the rear brake while you are loosening the sprocket nut and when you tighten the nut onto the new sprocket. -The manual...

    Odometer is off too!!!

Stock chain is good. Took me about an hour from the time I walked into the garage to when I went back in the house. I am fairly anal about mods, so I plan them out, go through them in my head, then actually do them. You need to disconnect the shift lever rod and move it out of the way to...

    Chicken Strip

Chicken strips and risk On the ZX forum, one of the posts said his chicken strips were "father of two young kids with a mortgage" wide, 1". I thought that was a great answer, because it shows his unwillingness to take an unacceptable risk of crashing. How far you can successfully lean your...
