All these crash vids we see. All the cool vids our forum members post up. I want a cam.
Not so much to show what a bad ass rider I am, or to show off my (not so) local twisties, but as evidence. I want a cam so I can post vids on Youtube and say "DON'T DO THAT!!"
A few weeks ago now, I was cruising the back roads with my 11 year old son on pillion. We're coming around a blind turn in an obvious no passing zone. A young driver in a really big SUV decides it's the perfect time to go around the scooter that had lined up like a half mile of traffic.
So she does it. Right into my lane, on a blind corner. I brake hard and head towards the ditch, and barely manage to avoid this woman as she travels on her merry way.
I looked in her eyes. She saw me. She just didn't give a rip, because I was only on a motorcycle. She probably wouldn't have cared even she ever realized my child was on the back of the bike. At any moment, she could have just gotten back into her lane. It wasn't worth it to her.
If you ride much, you see this stuff all the darn time. It's insane.
I've got to get a better fitting lid. That's my next bonus from work. But damn if I'm not going to try to get a GoPro, as soon as I can thereafter, and show the frickin' world what not to do.
A couple hundred bucks for a cam is tough for me, ATM. But the more I think about it (and you can probably guess that I think about it a lot) the more I want one.
