what's one thing you tell yam fix on the 6

I have to say the vibes......some days seems worse then other days.. need to resync my carbs again.

I wonder where the vibes come from... i know it's in the motor somewhere.. but what could be out of balance to cause such a vibe.

I may trade back up to a 1000 or busa next year not sure.

but for 5149 the bike was a steal.

Probably the exhaust. I have the stock exhaust still because I'm too lazy to change it because it requires "significant" effort.

What vibrations do you have? On my bike, at 7K, the foot pegs vibrate a bit, but I never gave it much thought. The rear seat vibrates a bit as well, I never looked to see at what RPM though.

That is because you are riding right where the engine get into harmonics. You have 3 choices. 1 you go slower, 2 you go faster or 3 you change gearing. My 16/38 absolutely sucks on acceleration, but it's a great cruising gear. 80 MPH @ 6000 RPM. Right below the vibration. Work good for me considering the only twisty here is the one out of the garage. I will back off a bit when time is due to change sprockets & chain. I'm aiming for 17/44. It will give me 500 rpm (6500 @ 80)

Now back to your question... my first mod was the rear sprocket. Within the first 200 miles I was WTF? My second was the windscreen. I remember that time, I was riding with my wife and 15 minutes into the ride on the freeway I just pulled out and drive the back road. My neck just couldn't deal with so much turbulence. Since there was no windscreen available at the time good enough to fix the problem I had 2 choices. Build my own or trade in the bike. So I build myself a windscreen!

I love this bike, and I'm right there with you... at that price I can manage to swap few things and still have a cheap ride.

there's a little vibe around 6/7 rpms then the motor smooths out.... on my bike anyway but now mine is picking up just a little in the 5 thousands range so i need to resync my carbs... been about 4000 miles so they must be do.

the only mods i made to my 6 are a carbon tank pad and some gel grips which seeem to help a little.

i like the stock exhaust system it's out of the way and..... it looks kind of cool...easy to clean you just wipe down the chrome tip.

yea you have to run below or below the vibe which is a pita sometimes.... but i use a little trick sometimes if im running on the highway....

i will run the thottle at 5000 rpms and run up to 7000/7500 and then when comes back down i will run back up.... kind like when your breakin in a new motor... so you don't notice the vibes as much by doing this.

my bike has the 43 rear sprocket which helped alot .......i agree.

1) Factory luggage, or at least some standard mounting points for whats out there

2) More power (current...) for accessories and gear

3) Standard exhaust, or just a little better "fit&finish", the one on there is just an eyesore (don't care about power or noise too much)

of course, adding anything else jumps the $6k price up... so, really, for the price, it wasn't bad.

with all the bikesi have owned.... i perfer to keep them stock now a just add oil an gas when needed

sometimes they run better stock if you leave them alone and don't touch anything..... but yes you can make the motors get more air and fuel and they will run faster ..... but sometimes they with be more tempermental.

Everything has it's own set of resonances/harmonics... it's just the way things all fit together that make them prone to react at certain speeds/winds/sounds... in this video, you can see the bridge gets into a "rhythm" from a wind passing over it... that's over the top, but hope it helps.

Harmonics is what engineer to explain vibration of a rotating mass... there's a 1st degree, second degree... and they all occur at different rpms.

In street term, did you ever drove with your car with a unbalance tire or a shock that is shut? You get to a certain speed (usually about 70-75 mph) and your change in the ashtray and pretty much the whole car start vibrating... then you go faster and it stop. That was your harmonic. Any mass that rotate has harmonic. It just happen at different rpm, on our bike it's between 6/7K. :iconbeer:

You've probably seen it if you've watched any history channel type shows... it's basically a bridge that starts "dancing", up, down, waves, etc.... all from wind.

Just add 5 lbs to the crank assembly and you will get rid of it. That's what flywheels or damper pulleys are for...

Back to the original question: Better suspension with adjustablity. Not having pre-load at least in the front is just plain lazy. Its a minimum.

yes i agree..... that was my 2nd choice......the 2010 model cost close to 7500 so you think stuff like that could be added.

i knew bike prices were getting out of control when 600 start costing 10 grand.

riders will go with bigger bikes for almost the same price.... thats why suzuki imported no bikes last year they had so many left overs...now with no money around.... like before their prices with have to reflect the times.

were i live in upstate new york most bikes are discounted between 1500 and 4500 hundred dollars.....
