I have a template still that I used to cover the graphics with Tech Spec on my '09 White FZ6R. If anyone wants it's really easy for me to trace and I can mail it to you. At least it will give you a starter that you can either use of modify. May make things easier if you are trying to cover the tank graphics and have to start from scratch. I know it was a pain in the ass for me.
EDIT: I scanned this template in and made it a PDF so if anyone wants a copy PM me your email address and I'll shoot you a copy.
A lot of people have asked so this is what I did:
Contact Tech Spec, or your local dealer, and get two Tech Spec sheets measured about 21x11. This will be more than enough and cost around $60. You can also research other materials. Take the template I sent, or make your own, and cut it and tweak it until it covers the desired location on your tank. Then when you get your materials trace your template to the back of the sheet and cut with sharp scissors. Take the other sheet and flip your template to cut out a reversed copy. You can either lay it right on the bike or if you really want you can sand down the edges at an angle. Apply to the tank according to the intructions to avoid getting air bubbles.
Hope this helps
This is what mine looks like, should leave enough room in the middle for a tank pad (or whatever it's called.)
