Went out for a nice 150 mile ride this morning. Funny little story here.
As I'm heading home through some of the more mild back roads only about 10 miles from home, I make a left turn onto Olde Highway 80 and realize I'm right behind 2 Sheriff cars. No biggie. Look in my mirror, see two Sheriff's behind me. I'm thinking "Oh shit did someone call the cops and tell them to look for a black sportbike heading this way" (lets just say I was having a lot of fun in the canyons just 10 minutes away :innocent So I'm cruising along surrounded by 4 cop cars, and then realize that there is a lot of traffic, mainly Harley's on the side of the road coming up to The Renegade (a local bar known for a lot of MC action) and the Sheriff's are slowing down to a stop in front of the bar. There's probably 40 guys standing in the parking lot of the bar, half of them with their phones out, videoing the cops, all in black and red cuts. I couldn't see the back patches or rockers to see what MC it was, but here I am, dead stopped in the middle of the road behind 2 Sheriff's with 2 behind me, in my black and red leathers and bike, with a whole MC yelling at and videoing the cops. We roll away a minute later but two of the Sheriffs hung behind. As we're going down the road, I see two more Sheriffs with two bikes pulled over, one guy in cuffs with his cut off and a shoulder holster visible, :spank: then when a group of 5 bikes with the same cuts on passes us going the other way, the car in front of me did a sudden U-turn to chase them. Something going on that the cops knew about and I'm sure they're out there just running plates etc... to try and catch open warrants.
I wish I could see what MC it was, but this isn't the first time I've seen similar things around here. There was a Mongol funeral ride that I ended up stuck in the middle of on highway 94 that the SWAT team was out for about 8 months or so ago. We have a lot of outlaw MC's around here. Just one of the things, as a motorcycle rider, you should just keep an eye out for. They don't like sportbike riders and if you find yourself stuck behind a group, just hang or let them pull away. Don't go blasting past them.
