She did awesome after all the practice these last couple weeks. Sorry for the abrupt ending, ran out of room on the cam, forgot to clear it before we left.

Enjoy!

She, as you can tell, is at her own pace. I have enstilled this in her as even when I ride with others I go my own pace. You wait for me at the next light or stop sign if you wanna go mach 3 and get tickets. She is the same as I. Also she doesnt want to lead as she directly told me that if she does she would feel inclined to ride beyond her pace so I am not "slowed up", Plus she has horrible sense of directions for where we are so she would have been more focused on that then what shes doing driving. Thanks for the advice tho meng I appreciate it! Glad you liked the vid sorry for it ending abruptly

I felt the same way about leading when I first started riding with the dudes. She obviously has self control to not try to match you so I'd let her be comfortable and in the back for now. For me, they eventually realized I wasn't having trouble keeping up and made me lead so I could break out of that comfort zone.

I agree. Following the much more experienced rider is safer and not as scary as being the lead (when you're new). Not feeling pressured to go faster or riding beyond your ability is helpful in growing and learning in motorcycling. Good on ya for letting her go her own pace CC! Cute video too. :D

Does this post make sense? It's late, I'm tired, but can't sleep. I'm guessing I shouldn't be posting when I'm this out of it.... Hoooooo Well.

She looks like she's doing really good! In my opinion, though, the inexperienced rider should lead, so he/she is not feeling like they have to try to match what the experienced rider can do - because they can't, really.

She looked awesome though, Kudos to her, and great vid!

Maybe in a larger group ride. However, in a two person ride I think the experienced rider leading can be better as long as the experienced rider is at the right pace for the the skill level of the inexperienced rider. And, if the experienced rider is in teaching mode. Good opportunity to show what line to take, appropriate speed and so on. Headsets would be good as long as the student is not annoyed or distracted and the teacher is knowledgeable, positive and also not distracted.

We just bought a SMH-5 team set to do exactly that butler

Two quick comments

1) I was going to comment that you just left her all on her lonesome several times, lol
2) More gutsy then me to let her ride too, id be too worried about my significant other all the time, and my bike time is my alone time.

My wife and I use headsets and have found them invaluable. I usually let her lead so I can talk her through some stuff I see her doing, and she doesn't have to worry about keeping up with me or me holding her up by going slower than she's capable of. I'll lead if it's a tricky set of curves where I don't want her to get in trouble going too fast.

Best advice I have seen, did the same with my wife. Always let the rookie lead, (hope it does not come across as rude) that way if they crash you can at least have a good laugh ( as long as it is not serious). I am just joking on this, I don't really want to see rookies fall. But Nastybutler is correct that following and giving instructions when needed is a good teaching tool.

When we use to take rookies out for a ride we would call it "fresh meat" (jokingly). :D Mean I know.
