Targa Fender Eliminator Kit

there is actually 3 different types of bulbs you can get

1 - black body, clear lens, amber bulb
2 - black body, amber lens, clear bulb
3 - black body, clear lens, Amber LED's

it sounds like you are getting the black body, Amber cat eye lens, clear bulb

I just figure the LED would be brighter, so I paid more for them

Ahha! Gotcha!! Thanks for that!! :o

PHEW!! I'm glad I didn't pay more for fancier signals, because I have no intention of using the signals that come with the kit anyway... I'm going to put my stock ones back on... I like that they're obnoxiously big - and easier to see.

this is the website where I got mine, I believe its straight from Targa

2009 FZ6R Fender Eliminator LED Cat Eye Signals Targa: eBay Motors (item 290437781502 end time Jun-21-10 14:34:10 PDT)

I think I ordered it on 6/18 and received it on 7/7, there was a guy there I think his name was Robert, he kept me updated through the whole process, actually called me, very impressed with customer service.

you might calling Targa? phone number on website above
thanks for the info. I paid $70 with shipping. Maybe that's the problem. Supposedly, it got shipped yesterday so I am anxiously waiting for it to arrive and to install it.

Waahooo!! My FE kit was delivered today!! :D

I'm going to try to install it tomorrow... once I figure out how to connect my stock signals to it... the rest should be a piece of cake.

Just use some wire cutters to chomp on the main bundle to the rear.....
I hope you have a volt meter, DVMM or something to do the signals.
Also the LEDs like to see the hot on a particular side so if it doesn't work one way, swap the wire.

How did everything work out??

Oh... LOL... haven't gotten around to it yet. :shakehead: And this weekend I've got waaaay too much going on. So hopefully Monday or Tuesday after work I can get it done.

I'll be sure to follow up in this thread once I've completed the installation.

Got my FE kit installed. Ummmm... I didn't exactly do it myself as I had hoped to... I had some help. OK a lot of help. But that's not important, its done - and already I've gotten compliments on how much better the bike looks without that big duck-tail looking thing! :D And it makes the rear tire look so much fatter...

Oh, and no, I didn't end up using my stock signals. I didn't want to spend any more time trying to figure out how to attach them, or fabricating some piece to use to attach them to the kit, so I said screw it. Maybe I'll rig them up as running lights some day when I have nothing better to do. :p

Does anyone know how to install the stock signal lights on the Targa kit?

Not specifically but I am going to try to figure out a way. I think if I can get the stock one off the fender and get the rubber boot off that it might be able to attach to the targa FE. But I'm not sure, I'll let you know if I get it working.

Wtf?!?!

hey guys! just finished installing a targa fender eliminator kit...I first wired the turn signals before wiring the license plate LED wire and the turn signals worked fine. when i connected the license plate LED wire to the remaining two connectors..the turn signals would not work nor would the signal indicator on the dash. could the wiring have blown a fuse?!? please help!!!! thank you!!

try reversing the tag light wires as LEDs are polar. fuse panel is under the main seat under the battery cover. easy to check.

Thanks...I'm going to try reversing the wires and checking the fuse tomorrow as I ran out of sunlight troubleshooting..I also noticed my brake light and horn stopped working as well..

It is a blown fuse, but something is causing it to blow. And just replacing the fuse will only cause it to blow again. You have to find out what is causing the fuse to pop.

I think the way i wired the license plate LED may have caused the short as the turn signals were working fine until i wired it. I wired the all black LED wire to the remaining black connector and the white/black LED wire to the remaining blue connector. I'm going to try reversing the wiring like spider2k had mentioned..hopefully that will do it...

just went in ordered the targa FE kit myself, waiting for it to arrive how long did the order take to come to your house ex. business days
