I understand I can apply some protection to the frame in case of a drop to protect the fairing (Crash Bungs?). Would anyone recommend a particular product for this machine?

Many of us have installed the T-Rex frame sliders. Very easy to install, even for the mechanically inclined. Most of us do the No-Cut ones, but it's personal preference. Their updated ones with the tapered end (see link below) look great and I believe are a must. They've already saved the right side of my bike. The updated ones I think look better than your standard sliders and blend into the bike so well that they look like they are a factory part. it says for '09 model but they work for all versions of the FZ6R.
