Hey guys, I need some help with controlling my urges to spend money to mod my bike... I have a "family" vacation coming up soon and I need to save a boat load of money. Not to mention christmas is just around the corner...
Just give yourself a certain amount of money that you will allow yourself to waste on whatever you want. If your income is $500/week, and your living expenses are $300/week. Then split the remaining $200 up. Save $100 in a savings account and give yourself the other $100 to spend. If you want new expensive mods for the bike, then let that $100 a week keep building up until you can afford it. This way you can still get the stuff you want, but your expenses are taken care of FIRST and you are still saving some. Just play with the numbers and make them work for you. But try and get it so that atleast 10% is being saved if possible.
Yes, modding is quite the addiction, and drain on the bank account. One simple rule to at least keep you out of trouble - Never Finance Toys...EVER.
Or sell your old stuff on Ebay and use only money raised in your Paypal account as a toy-fund. This keeps you from collecting junk, keeps your income as actual income, and sets your priorities for you. "Would I rather keep my PS3 or put a new exhaust on my bike?" Decisions, decisions...
I know what your going thru! I just got married in South Africa last week. Everyday I'm looking at my R6 headers and want to buy my slip on so bad just to get it done. Every time I buy a new ride I go thru that. When I bought my car in 06 (Suzuki Aerio) I wanted to "personalize it to my needs a bit" Got a Eiback lowering kit (1.25") rear sway bar, Rims and tires 16" x 7", tint window... but once it was all done I was happy. Same with my 6R. Few little update and the bike will stay like that for a while. Exhaust, PC and a set of luggage is on my list...
i never spend 'too much' money on mods, but it seems like i have expensive taste when it comes to everything else.
last fall i noticed that i had an 'expensive' year and i set limits on myself this year of what i could buy. i broke those limits already and im still looking to spend more. :don'tknow:
however, i do know one way to control yourself....but if i revealed it, all the different mc forums would be empty. did i just say to much
:banghead: I saw a TV special on credit cards that mentioned that a $2000 debt would take 30 years to pay off if you only paid the minimum at their outrageous interest rate.
