guess the tires played a major factor, as they usually do, esp. this time with rossi, hayden and spies had big chunks coming off the rear

I dont know who is your favorite rider, but mine is Lorenzo... Did you see what Bautista did to him in he first corner? Bautista was imprudent and sent Lorenzo out... What is it gonna be? Can the organization give Lorenzo some points? I dont think it is fair if it stays like that... Lorenzo was the chapionship leader... Bautista is from Honda carlos gresini team, though it is not the ofiicial honda team, this incident benefitted honda..

Bautista penalized after Lorenzo collision

2012 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Iveco TT Assen: Decision of the Race Direction and FIM Stewards

On Saturday 30 June 2012 during the first lap of the MotoGP race rider Alvaro Bautista (SPA) rode in an irresponsible manner, causing danger to rider Jorge Lorenzo (SPA) which is an infringement to the article N. 1.21.2 of the 2012 FIM Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix regulations.

The Race Direction decided to impose on Alvaro Bautista the penalty of starting the next race in Sachsenring on 8 July 2012 from the last position on the starting grid.
An appeal was lodged by San Carlo Honda Gresini.
The FIM Stewards confirmed the decision of the Race Direction. The decision of FIM Stewards is final.

rumor is Ducati is trying to get Cal for next year  will be interesting how this plays out

Rumor has it Rossi is buying a safelight team for next year to race for himself

Weird. Bautista doesn't seem like the type who would do that tho :(

Hope Jorge can make up the points next race. I'm routing for Jorge to win this season. And would love to see Rossi get back on the podium. But I think he is quickly running out of options if Ducati cannot get their bike competitive.

Go team Yamaha! :)

Rossi had chunks of tire the size of your fist coming off his rear. Had nothing to do with his throttle control. And Barbera was having a similar issue with the rear tire right toward the end of the race. The bike is garbage compared to the Honda and Yamaha. Ducati need to completely go back to the drawing board and start over.

As for Bautista aiming for Lorenzo, I think not. Yes it was a dumb ass move. But not one of these guys would put their life and everyone else's at risk like that to take out a championship contender to help the factory team riders win. This isn't NASCAR. These guys don't have roll cages around them. A move like that could easily have cost multiple lives. No way it was intentional.

I understand the duc has it's issues, however hayden appears to be dealing with it much better than rossi, and that's why i've lost some respect to the champ. hope he gets another brand next year and redeems himself

^ I totally agree...

Rossi's issues have to be the bike. He's a 9 time world champ, and his podium in the rain is proof that it's the problem with the bike. (Hayden isn't exactly doing much better either.). As soon as conditions help the bike he's instantly competitive.

Anyone that's seen interviews with Bautista knows that's it's not his character and most likely that this was just a terrible mistake and not intentional.

Now that Jorge passed on Honda's offer and resigned with Yamaha, is Bautista trying to fill that slot at HRC? I can see how it might look deliberate. But I think that the investigation should clear him.

:don'tknow: I watched it live and I've seen the replay two dozen times from a dozen angles and the overhead view shows Bautista screaming into the corner when everyone else is braking and basically looks like he beelined for Lorenzo and laid it over like a baserunner sliding into the shortstop well away from the bag to try and break up a double play. I have no idea how you can explain it away. Nothing else makes any sense.

Like Cal said... The dude was still on the gas and shifting when everybody else was braking for the corner. looks a bit intentional, seems it was a mistake. interesting how the blame gets accepted or not, while let's not forget how careless some of Simoncelli's *passes* went with the "rubbing is racing" overlooked

think something may be wrong, my rear tire doesn't feel right

yah, Lorenzo was justifiably livid right after it happened... losing a 24 point advantage over Casey is NOT a small deal... luckily he didn't get hurt from the crash... after he cooled off tho, u can tell from the interviews that he's a level-headed guy and still very much into racing... i liked how he was distracted & watching the race while being interviewed and going "ooh" and "ahh" and getting excited by what was going on. i mean, he just got taken out, and it didn't diminish his excitement over the sport. most guys would be so pissed that they wouldn't even be watching the race.

i honestly dunno why he gets so much criticism about being pompous and a Rossi wannabe. i think Lorenzo is not only a very elite rider, but he seems like a very decent guy. his FaceBook posts are kinda funny too- esp when he was getting his M1 license. he's just more of a loner and has a more serious personality, as opposed to the antics of say Rossi or Simoncelli...

Am still pulling for Lorenzo this season :)

Am still pulling for Lorenzo this season :)

Is that the verb you use in english when you wish someone or a sport team to win? If it is, i'm pulling for him too! I'm agree with your words! For me he is the most talented rider in motogp right now... It is gonna be nice to see Marquez against him...

bridgestone is going to be analyzing their multiple tire failures- presumably due to manufacturing defects...

even tho bautista didn't seem to do it on purpose, i still agree with lorenzo that he ought to be sanctioned more severely. ie, if u cause another rider to "NC" then it's only fair that you also get penalized one race on top of whatever race the incident involved was. this is the only way to make it painfully clear that riders are NEVER to do anything stupid to take out other riders- period.

MOTOGP: Noyes' Notebook - Assen Takeaway
