I was looking at the light knight (Traffic Light Changer for Motorcycles - the Light Knight), and am seriously considering it, as I am constantly getting stuck at traffic lights. Has anybody used this device, and does it work? I'm also open to other suggestions to dealing with lights that just wont change..

I have this one and it works about 90% of the time. No more jumping up and down at lights. lol

Utah just made it legal to run a red on a motorcycle after stoping and waiting 90 seconds... It's legal for this year in a trial period to see if it will work
If you read about these there are mixed reviews of about 50/50 success. Unfortunately about probably 1/2 of lights are timed also (you can hear the beeping on the timer if you stop close to the light poles). I am torn as I kind of want one also, but not totally sure it is worth it. Check the laws in your state for "red light laws". Many states you sit at a light for a reasonable period and it doesnt change, if no traffic is coming you can legally go through. I personally check my clock, if it is 1:57 and doesnt change by 1:59, I will go through. But I carry the MN MC laws w/ me so that I can show a cop if I do get pulled over.

Not in my town! Lol! I'm constantly getting stuck. I have a few side streets to take to get around most but there are a few that just suck.

I might try that one here if it ever happens, "There's a new trial law for motorbikes, after waiting 90 seconds and safely checking you can then go thru a red light, weren't you listening in the staff meeting last month ?"
Update: Got the light knight installed this past week. Haven't had a problem with a single light. I even took it up to the university to a light that I know for sure always fails to change for me, and I didn't have a problem. So, for what it's worth, the light knight works. It's pretty much just a decent-sized magnet, but it's pretty cheap, so worth it.
you guys realize that all these things are are just magnets. strong ones. You can order a set of neodymium magnets from most any site and just epoxy them behind the fairings and such and they will set off any light.

where did you end up mounting them for it to work properly. One of my harddrive died so i'm going to disassemble and use the magnet from that for this project.
I just mounted them inside the fairings at the lowest point, closest to the road. That seemed to be the point for me. The lower the better...
And yes, a hard drive magnet should do exceptional at triggering the sensors in most roads.
wouldn't it just be easier to spend 3.40 on some strong magnets and just clue them behind your fairings and call it good? I posted some links up above to some larger magnets that I use and they do the trick. I haven't had them fail yet.
