jspansel's P90X adventure/journal (Pics Added)

exactly why I didn't do P90x or any other "workout"... I'm in it for life, not a short term weight loss... the gym is nice because I have variety and weather doesn't matter, plus have some co-workers who are at my same level.

I just wanted to get into a routine and have fun doing it (racquetball FTW!) and now I feel good about going to the gym, doing some running/biking/weight lifting. I'll be 40 next year, want to begin my life right ;)

I agree with that. You cannot do P90X, get fit and then just stop. It is definitely a life change, for me at least. This is a kick in the pants, get me where I want workout, then I keep working out after its done to maintain. I will still do the workouts just not as hardcore every day as I am now. Ride my bike to work more, play with the kid on the playground instead of sitting on the bench, walk the dog more, hike and most importantly keep up the good nutrition.

Alright! Just passed the 30 day mark!!! YAY! :D 60 more to go

I am very happy with my progress so far. I feel absolutely wonderful. I have so much more energy now and love it. My food urges are almost gone. Candy, processed crap junk food, fast food has no appeal to me anymore. I enjoy real, whole foods now. I have not checked my weight this last week at all. I am off for Xmas break so I will check it on Monday on the calibrated scale at work. I have lost 1 belt hole in my belt though!

What is great about P90X is that you see progress and results very fast. After this first month and seeing how much you progress, it gives you so much motivation to keep going. If 30 days can work this good, I can't wait to see 90, and then more and more and more ;) I have already learned so much by doing this that I will carry on with, for the rest of my life.

Looking good Jay, keep it up! I keep pondering the thought of doing it myself and I sure could use it. Looks like your getting real good results!

Good job! You hit the lean aspect pf phase 1 just right! Your results through phase 2 will impress you more, and once int phase 3 you will literally notice daily differences. I havent stuck to the diet plan at all, but sort of wish I had. Still seeing the results, just not as much as I'd hoped. I havent dieted at all in the last 3 years since I started working out and have managed to lose 55 lbs...just from clanging and banging and busting ass. Its not the most efficient way to get fit, but it is working.

I am half way though week 10 now and really pushing myself each workout to do more than the previous reps on the worksheets, and if not almost as many reps on higher weight. The only thing annoying now is some of the lines Tony throws out in the videos that make me want to strangle him haha :)

I think it's cool 2 of us are going through it at the same time. Im now starting to think of what I want to do next when this is over. I may do it again and follow the meal plan closer, or may just mix in some p90x workouts with the insanity workouts, and mix back in the outdoor running once it starts warming up. I could talk about this for days. Keep us updated on ur progress! Ull never get me to my pics on here haha ;)

Nice work, Jay! Some really good results at 30 days. You'll be thrilled after the next 30 days!
I'm in my 2nd week of my P90X/Insanity hybrid routine and I've added about 5-7 pounds. I'm really hoping to add 10-15 more by the end. Pushups and pullups with a weight vest kicks my butt, but it gives me such a pump! Keep bringing it in the new year!

Thanks guys! Checked my self this morning and I am at 211. Very happy.

Im going to have a donut for breakfast, and then decide when to do this myself. lol

207 this morning. Been sticking with it pretty good, although I will admit I have slacked this last week. :zombie: Not sure why, but I have no energy at all. Not sure if its the weather, stress about random shit or burned out, etc but I am just in the dumps this last week. Stress is a killer to energy levels. :(

Going to try my best to get back in the groove. I'm not seeing anything as a failure no matter what happens with the P90X. I have made the changes that needed to happen in my life and can stick with them. I have not touched fast food since I started. I stay away from candy and junk.

Need to figure something out though to get out of the funk. Summer cannot come soon enough...

I concur with Don. If you can set up a support system of buddies to be active with, it helps a ton when you get into a slump. You can use each other for motivation and feed off their energy.

For one of the cardio days, substitute an activity that you enjoy doing and can work up a sweat. Maybe a pick-up game of basketball or some flag/touch football. I know it's probably cold up there, so you might be limited. I forget if you have kids, Jay, but maybe a game of tag with the kiddos. Anything that is fun and doesn't necessarily feel like you are doing it because it's a workout.

Another idea is to set a challenge for yourself and find a way to reward your hard work. Even if you don't meet the challenge, the reward can be just enough motivation to pull out of the slump.

Stick with it bro, you'll be glad you did!
