How much do you pay for Insurance?

With each post I read i tend to think living in NYC sucks! :surrender:

insurance costs

i thought i was getting jacked when my insurance company raised my rates 700 bucks per year when i switched from a 2003 beemer to the fz6r. then i called around for quotes -- AAA and others won't even carry this bike!!! i told them i'm a plump, gray-haired 46-year-old woman with lots of safety gear and safety courses, but they didn't care:) yamaha needs to either put more "touring" in this "sport touring" bike, or they need to educate insurance companies, because all four that i called list it as strictly a sport bike!

I go through Progressive and i only pay 247 for 12 months. I'm 23 in Atlanta GA. I did a price quote for geico and that wanted 8600..... Im sure there was a typo when i put it in but i was so put off by the number i didnt try again. lol :disapprove:

This insurance racket is BS. I'm beginning to think that they just spin the wheel and see where the little black ball lands. I called several companies and they told me the State of Georgia is just high (crappy drivers) and there is no way in hell they can go any lower (OH REALLY!) then I called State Farm they they said we can get me better and lower so they have been the best so far but these figures are way out of whack I just don;t get it:eek:

Just had a friend that has a Yamaha FJC 1300 renew his insurance. He's had license/bike for a year now and said it dropped $100 at renewal.

Well, I am glad to see insurance prices are fairly reasonable, and that I cannot trust the quotes offered on websites. Geico quoted me over $4800 a year for decent coverage on an FZ6R. I am 25 with only 1 wreck on my record. It wasn't my fault, seriously. It was around 4-5 in the morning and the roads were covered with black ice. I was driving a rescue squad crash truck to a vehicle wreck @ 15 mph, slid into a ditch @ 10mph, and then a roll-back wrecker slid sideways into the back of the crash truck, causing about $24,000 of damage.

Since I was in the driver's seat, it went on my personal driving record. But still, Allstate quoted me about $400 a year for insurance on a 150cc scooter. I wonder how much it would be for a 150cc scooter and my eventual Yamaha FZ6R.

Thanks for the ideas on insurance rates,
BP

I'm under 25 with 1 ticket on my record and one not at fault accident and I'm paying right around $320 a year with Country Insurance. I dont know if Oregon is the only one with that, but that's who I'm with. It's nice. And I that's full coverage too.

I pay a lot but I have a lot of coverage. My cost is $1,144 per year. I have $300k limits for everything. I also have uninsured motorist for the same amount. For those of you who aren't familiar with what this is - it protects you if someone hits you that has no insurance. Many people buy a high liability limit but little or no uniinsured motorist coverage. This means that if you harm another you are happy to pay but if an uninsured motorist hits you you dont care about your own damage.

Mine is about $360 a year, for a female 25+ with an operation after suspension and failure to registure motor vehicle on my record. State Farm rocks!!!

Yeah, my BF and I live in a small town that has a very low crime rate. So, that helps with the rates. I still can't undertand how the insurance companies can justify charging some people over $1000. That's just mind boggling to me.
