i'm all for automatic transmission, and with low MSRP, whatever puts more people on bikes and on the road is a win win

I respectfully disagree. Driving in general in North America is too diluted, to the point of being unnecessarily unsafe. Getting a license is too easy and people are relying on their cars to do too much for them, allowing them to become more and more distracted while driving. That's bad enough in a cage, on a motorcycle is a whole other problem. My personal opinion is that, should you be unwilling or unable to learn how to operate a clutch, you do not belong on the roads on a motorcycle. There are people who have proven their riding ability already who could benefit from an automatic bike I'm sure, and excluding them is not my premise. Motorcycling is very dangerous, though, and something not to be casually approached. I think that making a 700cc motorcycle easier for a beginner to handle is counter-productive. But, you know what they say about opinions...

surely respect your opinion, all are welcome. this 700 isn't the usual sportbike config. and only 50hp, of course yes still anyone can get in trouble with it, esp. beginners. i dont worry about what people do with their money/lives, it's theirs, not mine. absolutely riding/driving in high population anywhere in NA is dangerous regardless of what you're on/in. again each of us has to determine what risk you want to take, be it primary transportation or for fun...

Good to have choices

I like what Honda is doing. When I was shopping last summer, options were limited for sporty bikes. Seems like all the manufacturers abandoned the middle weight market (ie Ninja EX 500, GS500). Didnt want a 250 that was too small, or 600 supersport that wasnt commute friendly. My only real options last year were Ninja 650 or FZ6R. Luckily I found a great deal on the Yamaha. Otherwise, I'd probably be out testing the new CBR500R.

This, in a 850-900cc, manual, w/ABS, mpg > 55... I'd buy it.
