2013 fz6r

if they had just built the fz6r off the fz6 frame, motor, and sub frame.... it would have saved them an assload of money in development and they could have still msrp'd for 7500-8000 rather then 7000-7500 and i myself would have payed that for a 420lb FZ6R:rolleyes:

I believe Yamaha's thinking behind the fz6r was to make a more beginner friendly bike.

Ya so why wouldn’t they make it lighter using the frame and motor they already had?
Light bike = harder to drop and easier to balance at low speeds:D

It pretty much is the same motor, they just applied the same process to it again that they did going from the 03 r6, to the fz6, Less revs more tq. As far as the frame, I guess they just wanted to save money by not using aluminum but a lighter bike would make a lot more sense.

Eventually I would live to slap some r6 cams and a r6 head gasket on my bike and take it to the dyno to see what she's got. I would imagine it would be very close to 110 whp, and that wouldn't be to far off from a 03 r6 I believe.

Ya I don't know if I would ever get the exact numbers but I'd be happy with close. People always say why not just buy a r6, but the everyday live ability of the FZ's with the fun that can be had with them can't be beat!

Saying that and even as much as I love my fz6 with all the blood sweat and tears I've poured into it I'll still probably end up with a FZ1 within a year.
