Hello back from another UK Divvie owner. I have to say those rearsets look good. My big whinge about the XJ6 is that the pegs are too far forward and the bars too high and wide. I'm not expecting a GSXR riding position (I've got one of those!) but looking for something closer to my Hornet...

I thought that might be the case... I did find some pics of a US model with the seat off and it did look very different under the seat. Much tidier, the UK model looks very unfinished under there.

I was looking at the rather smart split dual seat they get in the US, and wondering if it would fit the UK model!

One other suggestion - the gear shift linkage is assembled nearly dry (at least it was on my XJ6). Try removing the linkage and greasing the pivot points. I had this problem 20 years ago with an FZ750 which was 'notorious' with the press for having a clunky gearchange. A bit of grease and both...
