Got my 6R Saturday, put on 100 miles, ordered Werkes fender eliminator and was planning Two Brothers exhaust but if I've read their FAQ correctly the system may not be street legal. Is it?

All depends on your state and their requirements. But as long as the plate is not tucked way up behind the tire and you have a plate light, and blinkers, most cops will not mess with you.
It is technically Illegal in WA where I live, but if you talk to a cop like most I have talked to before say they won't bug you about it, UNLESS you are driving around recklessly or something.
We got pulled over, me and two freinds going about 15 over the limit on a back hwy. The cops were saying they could have ticketed me for my fender eliminator, front and rear blinkers, exhaust, mirrors, and the speed. BUT they just let us go after getting proof the bikes were registered. I really think that most cops are cool with bikers because they respect them if they aren't endangering others by driving like idiots.

a few states will not allow you to modify exhaust system period! so its a risk. you could always get a stock exhaust if needed.
Here's what Texas says about motorcycle exhaust:

The 2 Bros offers two different tips that quiet it down to varying degrees. I've got the P1X tip, the quietest one, and it makes it so that it's not excessive at idle and low RPM's but if you wind it up, it's still going to turn some heads. Which is how I want it. If cops pull you over for a 2 Bros, they better have pulled over every Harley with aftermaket pipes (which is every HD) first.

I agree. But it wouldn't matter in court; if your exhaust is illegal, your exhaust is illegal (Texas law is pretty vague).

Im in Houston as well, have the viper can. No issues with the cops.
I believe in Maryland FEs and exhausts are technically both illegal, but most motorcycle dealers will sell bikes with both. Of course, I have a dealer near me that won't pass non-DOT mirrors, LED signals, FE, or exhaust (except on Harley 
)

I dont know the technicallities but I wouldnt be surprised that everything is either illegal or a misdemeanour.
It just comes down to the officer' discretion on the day (how pissed they are from the last person they dealt with or something personal in their lives) and how willing you are to defend yourself via legal arguement.
I know my front flushies, FE and pipes are 'unroadworthy',
to which end I do my best to be inconspicuous by not doing anything stupid when in greater metro area -not that I go squiding up through the hills etc

Lol @ those talking about the FE.
I think in most places exhausts like the TBR are illegal, but like with many things, bikes can get away with stuff more than cars in a lot of respects.

yep... didn't read the whole post... it happens...
many states are getting strict on aftermarket anything... just another revenue maker, nothing to do with safety...
ride smart, and if you do get pulled over, be respectful. Most leo won't pull you over just for an exhaust, it's an out from a bigger offense...
The shop where I got my bike inspected loved my comp werkes fe. They thought it was custom and said it's one of the best they've seen. No problems with the viper can either (with db killer). PA doesn't specifically prohibit aftermarket exhausts, but has a sound level requirement measured at 50 feet at less than 35mph the db is 80 (I think ) and 88 above 35mph (sure of this one). Don't know if I am within those limits but I know if I take it easy I can probably be under those values.

Almost exactly the same as pa. We have a db requirement but don't think they test it.

Thanks for the link. The article mentions SAE J2825 as a more reasonable approach than California's sweeping ban on non-approved exhaust. Two Brothers exhaust probably violates this as well (J2825 says "100 dBA for motorcycles with three or four cylinders at 5,000 rpm", while Two Brothers says they put out 101 at 3,000 rpm).
Two Brothers also apparently violates the EPA standard (here, look for §205.166)
