Show Off your chicken strippies

I appreciate your concern. I take my name very serious, and trust in my ability to understand a safe route and what is not. Whether I was here or not my strips would still be where they are, its just I can post them here because I am here.

I do condone safe riding. I will eventually get to a track.....some day.

have to agree that there are simply too many "things outside rider control" on the road... i almost hit a squirrel and a bird last weekend too. not as bad as the time when i saw that big ass deer standing on the double yellow after exiting a blind turn. but, still enough to make you go OH **IT i hope that sucker moves... lol o_O

Break in period complete yesterday. Finally got to take her out and open her up. Working on the chicken strips :)

My chicken stripes need to be measured in feet, no inches. :) :D

Concerning the Rook vs CC chicken strip wars; yeah, general rule is don't chase em - but if they strips follow actual abilities, then no issue.

We all know Rook is talented, and CC is getting there, just let the strips fall where they may - BTW, I am fine with my 3/4in strips, I just don't care I guess - but the competition you guys have is entertaining, just don't let it get out of hand :)

Everyone just needs to understand that chicken strips or lack thereof are not an indicator of how well someone rides. If you use terrible form, you can have no chicken strips, but you run slower and are at risk of going down. I'll take mid-turn pics over size of chicken strips to judge ability any day.

Don't worry I have a good head on my shoulders ;)

True about form, but it can tell you how far one leans over! :D

Agreed, but I seem to remember John Kerr posting some pics of a guy leaned over, who probably had no chickens strips, and he ended up in the ditch.

This is turning in to the thread that fun forgot. I really don't think CC and The Rook are boring rubber crop circles into the parking lot at the local WalMart in ever-tightening radii all for the sake of a pissing contest.

All you kids out there, don't interpret this thread as encouragement to go in to turns as low as you can. If you are inexperienced, you will lowside. It will hurt. Your bike will be wrecked. You might cry. The best path through a corner is keeping the bike as upright as possible while leaning your bodyweight in to the turn. Don't get me wrong, sometimes "as upright as possible" is shooting sparks off your peg. That's when the real fun starts. I lost count, am I the 39th, or 40th person in this thread that has explained that concept?

CC and TheRook are big kids, and I'm sure they don't need us giving unsilocited riding tips (right after I just typed a wholesale unsolicited riding tip). I think I speak for almost everyone here when I encourage them to be careful, but from the content of their posts, I think the tire wear is a by-product of their riding, not a deliberate attempt to lie their bikes down. They seem to know better. If you're reading this post and you don't know better, go take a lesson or read a book. In fact, do that anyway. Can't hurt, right?

CC and TheRook! Don't look so smug over there. You're not getting out of this scot-free! Shame on you for showing off! I didn't join this forum to have a couple of cowboys showing me how much fun motorcycling can be! I joined to admonish people who don't look and think exactly like I do! Now do as I say!, even though you've never met me and I have no real credibility with you.

Now I'm going to put on my 1-piece MotoGP suit with the retrofitted titanium armadillo shell on it, my chain mail gloves, my carbon fiber boots with steel sliders, and my full-faced helmet OVER my open-faced helmet, and ride over to the 7-11 to get some milk (skim, because 2% makes you fat) AND A POX ON ANYONE WHO DOESN'T DO LIKEWISE!!

(Sorry, I'm feeling sarcastic today)

Edit: This post is not really to be taken seriously. There are some serious points, but it is mostly tongue-in-cheek. It works better in person. The typed word loses some nuance. The only people I am actually calling out in this post are the "nannies" that don't want anyone to have any fun. Ever. Anywhere.

I'm not joking or being sarcastic now... If you follow the link above, JonKerr makes some great points about cornering technique. The photos are also a very graphic representation of what can go wrong if you get in over your head. It's a real eye opener.
The actual reason I joined this forum is to learn more about motorcycling. There is tons of great info on this forum about how to operate and maintain your bike, and how to be a better rider.
This is not really one of these threads. As long as someone inexperienced doesn't mistake it as such, there is no harm is having a little fun. That's why we all bought bikes, isn't it?

You guys know you "lean" a motorcycle right? :D

If you mean, know how to lean a bike right, then yes. Leaning it over to the shoulder of the tire does not mean you are fast and safe.

Don't get me wrong Rook, I know you can ride. I just don't want real rookies thinking that seeing some unworn tire on the shoulders means you can't ride. It can also mean you ride correctly and are very fast. I've followed riders on a track that I ended up passing, and they had no chicken strips while I still had a bit. I'm not ashamed of mine. If anyone wants to judge my riding they'll have see me ride. Looking at the amount of worn tire near the shoulders won't show them.

I would never judge a rider by their chicken strips. It's just an indicator on how far one leans over. And of course it doesn't mean you are fast and safe. It's all in good fun when you can brag that your chicken strips are smaller ;)

You're not trying to make them smaller to match something else that's small are you?:p

You're correct, there is no harm in having a little fun.. That's why this thread was started.
