Arrive at work about 6:45 (we open at 7) about 5 people were already waiting at the door (ford dealer service dept.)

So me and the other writer are rushing up to get the computers going to write up this people before even clocking in.

So, the last two guys were together and came to talk to me. They took a flight from texas to Upstate New york, to pick up a car they bought it from ebay to drive back to texas. Guy tells me car is in good shape and has only 38k miles. he broke down on the highway and rolled car down to my parking lot last night.

I say sure, we will check it out. Guess what kind of car. Is a 79 Lincoln Versailes.. It's a piece of shit. Rust everywhere, vinyl top is all cracked up.

We opened the hood has a ROCk sitting on top of the battery, God knows why, has piece of 2x4 jammed between a bracket and the belt tensioner, piece of paper underneath rotor to keep on right level.

Well my mechanic felt bad for the guy and said. Let me check it out.

15 minutes later he comes back and says has no power out from door spark module. $490 later and guy being a cheap f**k and crying o the phone about just bought the car and have no money to fix, we put the piece, car started fine, ran for about 5 minutes and just totaly DIED out.

Now cranks, won't sart, found vehicle besides wrong cap and rotor, has wrong plugs too.

Gotta call the cheap ass back. F**K. And I know this piece of shit is gonna need more stuff.

:banghead:

Sorry, just venting.

Rocks, paper, and 2x4's? :zombie: Sucks for the guy, but it's his fault for not inspecting the vehicle before purchasing... idiot. Hope your client doesn't take his frustration out on you guys. Good luck!

That,s Why I wouldn't buy a car sight unseen...That Sucks...Well they just learned a good life lesson...Rock, Paper and 2x4..That's a first!

I was a writer for two years. EFF that gig lol. At the end of this your not his hero he hates you even though you fix his car and did what needs done. Then he calls your service manager says you butt pounded him and your service manager cracks at you for CSI. It makes me cringe just thinking about it.

.

I was about to quit this gig too until I started working here (salerno duane ford). Is a Mon-Fri. Town dealer (not highway dealer). Csi right now is 98%, Fix it right the first time 100%. Small shop, 6 guys only (all master certified).

So far the gig is awesome comparing to any other place I ever worked. My boss only shows up here on wednesday (pay day) (he stays at the Jeep shop)

Thankfully I make good money for not having a college degree.

PS: Put the plugs on the car, started engine runs like shit and is ready to blow up. He is NOT making to texas. Will be luck if he makes to PA.

Update of my day:

Tech put plugs on it. Drove for 15 minutes no problem.
Guy came, paid bill
Went to start car. WONT F******K START. SHIT.

"We opened the hood has a ROCk sitting on top of the battery, God knows why, has piece of 2x4 jammed between a bracket and the belt tensioner, piece of paper underneath rotor to keep on right level."

The seller probably told him it was a rock solid car.:D My day isn't so good either, went off on a co-worker and will probably end up in HR before long. It's the shits to get old and crotchety. F. em. A.!! :zombie:

You can take a turd and shape it like a nice cone, put wip cream and cherry on it... at the end of the day... it's still a turd! :iconbeer:

That's what I do now, working on old cars. Most of the stuff here is kick a$$. And most of them have been restore to probably better to there original. But still sometime (some cars)... out of nowhere they decide not to start, stalled, piss oil, gas or run like $hit.
.

The best of it that I hear all day long from the techs "old cars were a lot beTter to fix, no technology and will get anything fixed in an hour" Guess what, the 2011 cars you fix have computers to tell exactly what's wrong (most of the times).

eff pissed right now.

I love home fixins'. You should tell the guy that in addition to the standard parts he also needed a new rock, and a different type of lumber, preferably one that has to be special ordered.

I feel your work pains, I arrived at a house to fix a leaking dishwasher today, and the tenants had pooped in it. Refused to touch it.

say what? you did say dishwasher right?

Yeah, the whole thing was just unfortunate.
EDIT: I shouldve known something was up when I went to open the dishwasher, and the guy said "good luck" and walked away.
