Cleaned her up really well
Changed the oil (3600 miles, just a wee early) installed k&n filter and used mobile 1 racing 4T synthetic.

Installed Targa FE kit
Installed integrated LED tail light from Motodynamic. Used Yamaha connector y cable to keep integrated and mini rear sigs.

Cleaned and lubed chain with DuPont Teflon chain cleaner & lube


Here's the new clear integrated tail with the Targa FE kit. I have the Proton flush mount front signals and yamaha harness ordered, and then I want to do something about the mirrors and exhaust.

I have been out of town for a wedding in gatlinburg, tenessee and seeing everyone riding the mountains there I was drooling at bikes the whole time. First thing I did when I got home was get the bike out and go for a 20 mile cruise with a buddy on his ninja 650r. We are going to tow the bikes down there for our next vacation. I was actually surprised to find out they have a helmet law after seeing so many riders with helmets on, it was nothing like in Ohio, hardly anyone does. But I do :)

Not today, but done yesterday.

1: Cleaned and Lubricated the chain very well. Grunge brush broke and was scrubbing the last part holding the bristle pad in my hand to scrub... still got pretty clean though - Ordered new brush - wish I could find the Aluminum ones they used to make.

2. Changed the oil and filter. Used Amsoil and KN 204 Filter. Used a filter end can wrench for $5 from Advanced Auto Parts and the Yamaha filter came off so smooth and easy. I think from now on will buy the cheaper Purolator filters that Nastybutler uses so I can make use of the wrench cap that I purchased. With this I think it will be actually harder to find the socket bit for the KN filter! LOL

3. Changed my spark plugs at 8027 miles to NGK Iridium Plugs.
-CRAP that rubber cover is a pain in the A$$ to deal with. Then had a hard time getting my airbox all the way back down again. Wouldnt seat back down all the way.. Lots of colorfull language, but FINALLY got it down all the way.

4. Used Motorex 2000 Grease to lubricate my foot peg swivels, kickstand, brake and shift foot levers. They were squeeky but now nice and smooth.

Notice on Friday that my high beam headlight is shot! So guess what I'm doing tomorrow... Anything better than stock option? Stealership is close tomorrow but Cgear open at 10:00am.

your local bike shops will likely have 35w HID. its worth the investment. Shouldnt cost more than $60 and you will wonder how you stuck with stock lighting for so long.

WOW! I am at over 8k miles.. chain still in spec..actually on tight side of it yet!! Still havent had to learn to adjust the chain. hmmm Oh well.

I'll get the HID. I ordered a set of brake pads also this morning. I guess I use the rear more than I tough. I use it to slow down usually. The front still have plenty of meat on... but figure out changing both end with same compound would be better.

Got it in april of 2011 brand new as dealer leftover. Lube chain every 300 and clean every 1000. Dealer serviced except for oil and spark plugs. They let me watch them do the service. At 4k this june they said still good, no ned to adjust yet. Measured this weekend and still tight. (didnt ride much my first year 2.5k, but now this year put on almost 6k since may).

A bit over 30K now and I notice one thing about chain. When it's new It stretch just a bit in the few 100's miles and stay like that afterward.

Nothing compared to HID's in a projector...
