I took my 08 R6. I love my bike but I hurt after I ride it. I had surgery on my back almost 2o years ago and after i ride i get bad back pain for 2-3 days then it goes away.

I rode an aquaintances 04 FZ6. i didnt hurt at all the next day.

back to the dealer. they said they could trade me straight up a 09 new FZ6R for my R6. (my bike is perfect and super low miles)

what do you think? good deal? would you do it.

depends on the mileage on your R6... if it has less than 15K miles, then i'm not sure it's a good deal- only cuz your bike might be worth $6k+ via private sale. a new 09 fz6r is only $5400 nowadays...

Well that and you throw in document fees tax title and setup/crate fee then tag, it'll jump up to around 7K easy.

BIG IF HERE. tell them that it's only an even trade if it includes everything! Meaning: Here is my address to mail the title to. Where is my key?

Agreed. Plus, it depends on what your looking for. Can you give up the power of your R6 for the comfort of the FZ6R? The FZ6R is a great all-around bike, jack of all.....someone here once said, "It's great at ALL things, but not a master at one." ....or something to that effect. Although it's not as fast as the R6 or handle as good as the R6, it's still a blast to ride and you can ride it everywhere, all day.

In Texas you only....

pay tax on the difference between your actual trade in value and the price of the bike you are buying. 6.25 % if I remember right. If I thought I might be able to sell a bike for $400 more or so on the outside...I don't gain anything as now I have to pay state tax on the full amount of the new bike....not the small percentage difference if I trade in.

I am the owner of a black FZ6R. no $$$ out of pocket and I got a brand new bike with 2 miles on the ticker.

i rode for 30 miles so far and my neck and back are still just fine. I wish i had done this a long time ago.

I do miss the power and the brakes of the R6 but the FZ does just fine. I would trade the power for comfort any day

here is a pic of the old and the new. i guess I will need to get a fender eliminator and some sliders. then go from there.

well...... i am off to ride again. it is awesome to ride pain free

Thanks for the replys. i will weigh my options for a few days and perhaps i will be an owner of a FZ bike

Hahaha! Weigh your options for a couple of days huh? Sounds like you got a good deal. The reduction in insurance should be pretty nice too. Hope you enjoy it!

Congrats on the new ride! What good is a motorcycle's power if you can't stand riding it? The 6R is a great bike in my opinion - wife just did 1200 miles this past week on hers and no discomfort issues whatsoever! That's what a bike should be - Enjoy!

Congrats!
A helluva choice in the mornings... hmmm... GTO... FZ6R... GTO... FZ6R... :D

congrats! :)
