Two Brothers Racing Exhaust Too Loud?

Without knowing the size of the meter, it's kind of hard to judge distance. I figured 1-2 feet.
100dB at 1' is 66dB at 50'. Which is a nice way of saying that could be doing 118dB at freeway speeds and still meet the most stringent legal requirements should that ever be an issue, which it probably won't.
(For reference, 125dB is the point where pain begins.)
No real point to this. I just like playing with the engineering numbers.

I measure it from about 18" away and off to the side about 6". Having the meter in the stream of exhaust gas would have given it a false reading. Here's all of the data I got...
NEXT TO EXHAUST(SUPRESSOR IN)
IDLE- 87dB
3,000 RPM- 100dB
HEAD HEIGHT(SUPRESSOR IN)
IDLE- 75dB
3,000 RPM- 90dB
I measured the horn too...
HORN
2" AWAY- 119dB
3' IN FRONT OF BIKE-90dB
(the fairing blocks most of the sound from coming out)

Incidentally, the measurement that matters most is the measurement at your ear, inside your helmet. Unfortunately, that's rather hard to measure.
Long-term exposure in excess of 85dB can be problematic. If you're talking about riding only an hour or two a day, 100dB at the ear is probably OK. The longer the exposure, the quieter you need to make it to be safe for your ears.

I have plans on eventually getting a juice box or PCV and the TBE but before I pull the expensive trigger I think I would want to hear one of our bikes up close for myself. That way I can decide on whether its too loud for me or not. I would probably run with the silencer tip on as well.

I just installed a TBR Carbon Fiber exhaust on my bike and started it up. My first impression was that it was too loud. I took it for a ride and still feel the same way. Obviously, I expected a difference in sound but not this much. Especially with the silencer tip already on. I checked again for leaks and found none. My last bike, a GSX650F, was not this loud with a TBR exhaust on it. Anyone else feel like this after installing the TBR exhaust or is it just me. I might take it back off. My neighbors are gonna hate it when I leave for work at 4am!
If you really hate it, I'll take it off your hands. :thumbup:
