Just bought a clear intergrated tail light and the guy that I called to get it installed said it isnt allowed and cops would pull me over nonstop?? This because its clear and not red or because it may confuse drivers with indicator/brake light on at once?

Then I suggested another and wanted to go with the mini blinkers beside the new F.E. and he then mentioned it should be ok but the cops will still pick on it =/

the clear tail light still shows red but hey if you wanna sell let me know haha

Install yourself if you can. All I can think of is maybe the indicators have to be separate or a certain distance apart. I don't see a clear lens being illegal :\

I had mine tinted red for the exact same reason. It looks red but the turn signal still shows yellow as if it was clear. It looks stock how i have it now.

I had one on my 6r, and it was one of the first things i did on my daytona.

I have yet to have a problem, but I don't know how the police are in AU.

I think the problem would be with the turn signals. At least here, they need to be so many inches apart (left/right), and since they are apart of one housing, that doesn't fly.

Oh, and its plug/play, you can easily install this yourself in the matter of minutes.

When I tried to do it myself I came to those black hidden rivets in the side of the fairing now I usually drill threw rivets but I dont have a spare one of these special ones so wasnt to sure on how to remove them without damaging anything. And the light look pretty simple though I'm not sure with wires etc the plug seems easy but the blue and yellow wire which I'm guessing is the neat functions, wouldnt have a clue what to do with them just gonna have to get a mate down to help me out on a good day hopefully soon stupid Melbourne weather...

Almost all of those integrated lights are technically illegal. There is a requirement is for 9" separation between the two turn signals (16" on the front). The lens being clear is not an issue so long as the color of the light is red. There is also a requirement that all the signals be visible and obviou from 200' away in daylight, which is often an issue for a small housing containing LEDs that are trying to accomplish three things simultaneously.

Most places don't enforce these rules very much, but some do. I see lots of bikes with no turn signals at all around here, especially older "chopped" and highly-customized cruisers. We don't have state inspections here and LAPD could not possibly care less. But avoid Beverly Hills, certain sections of Orange County, and the a few of the other rich independent cities. They have plenty of time to ticket you for that and they will. (A fix-it ticket here isn't just a fine, it means it MUST be brought up to spec and inspected within 10 days or your registration is suspended.)

In states with regular inspections, these things can definitely be problems. A replacement tail light probably won't get much attention, but the lack of distinct turn signals often will.

Depends on your area. The rest of us can only guess what will or won't fly where you are.

9 inches? cool......that gives me options.....

I thought it was 12 inches here in Cali....

Dont drill those rivets! -just use the corner of your screwdriver to press the middle section in and then the whole thing (washer & plug) will come out with your fingernail!
To put them back in just withdraw the centre plug out half way, insert into the hole and press the plug down flush.

Dont forget picks when ur done..
