Straight pipe?

Would there be any kind of problems if I was to cut off the stock muffler and just weld on a straight pipe with a nice tip on it?

Yes, I know how to use the search function. Yes I used it. No, I couldn't find anything referring to my particular question. I saw a guy on YouTube that did this, but I am assuming it would cause an extreme lean condition and possibly cause some engine damage.

Definitely not unless you are going to use a Power Commander fuel controller.

Thanks. I figured it would definitely jack up the air/fuel mixture. Just didn't know if would be enough to cause any damage. As for the neighbors, I live in an apt complex and I hardly ever ride it. Besides, they won't be able to hear it over their getto boomin bass music anyway.

This might sound kinda wack, but I seriously thought about putting a baffled glass pack on it with a really nice looking tip and painting all the piping black. I really just wanna be different.

im sure an sp would sound pretty sick just an fyi for ya though... i took the tip out of my TB exhaust and it actually hurts my ears i almost regret it the tit more power is pretty nice though heh =P

Two words; GOOD LUCK. I rode this bike on straight pipe for an hour and hated it. WAYYYY too loud.

I saw that one. I guess I need a definitive answer wether or not you have to have a fuel controller or not. I like the way it sounds and I want it to be loud as hell. I just don't wanna screw the motor up at that expense.

If you dont have a fuel controller youll be losing power and having a lot of backpop on deceleration. Personally id just buy one because the tune is a nice bump in power too. But tbh you might regret straight pipes, I tried it with mine with the can off, and it was loud as hell and didnt sound toned at all. With the can on its not quite as loud but has a nicer tone to it.

I can understand the desire for loud. "Look everybody, I've got a badass bike!!"

There's another argument that goes that loud pipes save lives. There may be something to that. It's up to debate. Around here, however, every time a biker dies in the news, he's on a Harley and some dude pulled out in front of him. Harley's aren't exactly quiet.

So back to the original point - Loud just to be loud? "Hey everybody, look at me!" In all truth, I like when I stand out. I pull up, hop off my bike, in all my gear... I'm a badass and I know it. There are times when I wish that when I hit that starter button, my Tora Tanshi would ROAR!

But I'd rather ride. She roars pretty darn good on the road, when she's WOT. If she were seriously loud, she'd be no fun to ride anymore. Here's a shout-out for the way the 6R sounds stock! Whooot! Whooot! :cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::cheer::wav:
