No, you're right... I've never seen ficus do that well in general... The tree next to the staircase is a Salix babylonica silkus... It does well *anywhere*... hardly needs any moisture (just a misting of the leaves to get the dust off), and doesn't care about lighting...Sorry for the curly question, but what is that tree you have next to the stairs?
I have been trying to find a species that flourishes that well indoors for about year now,
and the ficus I have isn't performing well with the limited light available.
They're hard to find... however, if you Google the common, as opposed to horticultural name, you may have some luck: Silk Weeping Willow...
However, if you want a *real* tree that does well indoors, try a Norfolk Pine... mine last for years...
