I'm thinking of getting the power commander over the juice box because you can customize it more. But what I wanna know, from all who have the power commander, how much hp and torque has it added to your overall performance? Is it worth it? and does your bike both perform better and go faster? Please advise....

I did all that crap to my FZ1 and ya, you could tell the difference but the gain was not worth it in my opinion.... unless you're trying to win a race. But I did get rid of that awful ugly muffler at least.

The thing is, if you do exhaust mods on the FZ6R which free up the flow, you probably need the PCV. My 6r still has all the stock stuff on it and I like it fine.

If I want more performance, the easiest and most cost effective way to increase horsepower is with more cubic inches...by getting a bigger bike.

Most cost effective way of increasing performance... losing weight :)

Most cost effective way of increasing performance... learning how to ride faster

I think if you go with Marthy's Maps you will significantly feel a difference. At least that's what everyone else says about em... maybe next year I can tell you about it myself whenever I get an exhaust.

My 20 year old son wanted a custom exhaust for his Ninja 650 for his birthday. I ended up getting him a Scorpion exhaust (which he loves the sound), but found that to run properly I had to put on a power commander also. Has it improved the performance of his bike? Yes, we figure it increased the performance by about 15%. He is very happy with the mix of exhaust and power commander. Of course he would be, he didn't pay for it! Do I spoil him? Probably. He does have one advantage over most of us. He is 6' 2" tall but only weighs 130 pounds. Having very little weight and a drag coefficient of a pencil, that bike flies!!!! Would I consider putting a power commander on my FZ6 or my wife's FZ6R? No, I don't believe you get a big enough improvement in performance to warrant the cost. Now if we were racing the bikes, any improvement in performance would be good.

I did the exhaust and JB to my bike plus K&N air filter, K&N oil filter and
Royal Purple oil. I have also done other mods to take off weight on my bike, I have yet to do a sprocket change. With what I have done so far I notice a considerable difference but I have put forth a good bit of time, money and effort. Yes I enjoyed ever last min of doing it. Could I bring my bike to a drag race track and probably turn some heads and post some nice times, yeah probably, I won't break records or make new ones. I did what I did to my bike 1-Cause I like it, 2-It allows me to learn more about my bike. 3- I just really love my FZ6R, and yeah I did want
To squeeze a little more out of her, but she was fast before and faster now. In my opinion if you want it then do it, I will tell you this, I have more now and find myself using it less. Good luck in your ongoing search! In a nut shell once you get more horsepower you may find yourself not using it's full potential!

Thanks for the info...how much would you say of HP you have gained from your mods? 10 maybe 15hp?

The increase in HP is 5 to 10, depending also on exhaust and intake mods. What is more noticeable is throttle response (more immediate) and delivery of power, seems to pull quicker through to redline. Gas mileage will be compromised however, I went from 42 to 36/38 mpg. If you do everything the right wrist also gains quickness and range of motion.

You can see my list of mods below. I notice a big difference between what I have now and what I had when it was stock five months ago. I've also put about $2500 into it. Since the bike was a gift and I sold my old bike for $2000, I don't feel like it was a waste of money. Had I been buying the bike myself, I would have bought a bike with more power to begin with, but I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth. So now that I've sunk some money into it, I really enjoy it. Both the way it handles (thank you Hyperpro), and the power.

As far as putting a number on the horsepower gain, it would be a subjective guess on my part since I'm not going to spend the money to get it dyno'd. It's noticable however. Especially since Marthy clued me in to the ACC PUMP feature of the PCV, which the JB is missing. That's like a turbo boost, without the wind up lag.

Hey can you post a link to where you bought Hyperpro spring? I would like to have it bookmarked :) thanks

which yamaha model? It doesn’t list the FZ6R. It says FZS-600 Fazer?
I may be pointing out the obvious, but the post before yours is 9 days short of being 14yrs. old. Base price if you want to save money is Delkevic, if money is no object look up Leo Vance, Hindle! Good luck with the mods. Also, look up https://www.youtube.com/@HalfClickUp this guy has done everything to an FZ6r and has full DIY tutorials.
