Need advice on traffic ticket I received! Please read!

If i remember correctly, trailers all come due at the same time. if thats the case where you are, i think they should have pro-rated it for 2 monthes and told you to come back and get a full year when they would normally come due.

Yeah that is the case in NY. Every ones reg is up in April. They really should have pro rated it because when I got my other bike 2 years ago, I paid like 10 bucks for 7 months (the reg fees were only like 20 bucks back then). NY DMV just loves to screw drivers over. It is insane to pay over 40 bucks for reg for a bike

I paid 110 for registration + plates, I don't mind paying 42.50 for the 2012, but i just don't want to pay double the amount when people I know paid the 110 at around the same time as I and they got 2012 expiration dates. It even says I paid the full amount for a year.

The registration wasn't transferred either because the bike had 0 miles on it, I'm the first and original owner.

In Ontario, you renew on your birthday. If you buy a vehicle a couple of months or more before your birthday, the val tag is only good until your birthday. Cops here will usually give you a 48hr POA if they believe your story when you're pulled over. Once I was pulled over in Oct because my tag expired in July. I told him I didn't remember ever getting my notice and forgot. He gave me 48 hr to get the tags and I had to drop in to a precinct to get the ticket nullified.

If this was the first registration, it should have started on the day of registration and been good for a year in CA. In NY, it should have been prorated for the current year and the fees for the next year collected and the tag issued so you would have had 13 or 14 months before it was due again.
2 months is ridiculous. What if you register on the day before the tags are due, full price and then pay again in a month?
Sounds like they charged you registration for 2009 when the bike was not on the street. The year model should not dictate the date the registration starts, it should start the date the bike is first registered by the new owner from a dealership. I think the DMV screwed up here.
