Im also going for the R6 header mod.

Yesterday i bought a MIVV ovel carbon slipon for about 150€.
It is for a R6 -03 model.
I will cut that one in half or so and then assemble it again.
The god thing is that it comes with a DB killer so i can choose if i want it to be loud or not. And i get some mounts and springs.

A header from a R6 -2000 year model is on the way.
Price: about 70€
I recon that one is a little bit shorter than the later -03 model?
That would be better because then you can use more of the slipon length.

Maybe i will go for the "roundabout" style that i have seen some systems for later R6. Yoshi race system have that style, i think to get more accurate lenght on the exhaust pipe.

Total price for a home made full system: 220€
And some time spent then.... ;)

Ill let you know how it goes.

Don't forget you need to include a dyno + pcv mapping.

Yeah, but "Stroke" here at this forum mounted an R6 -00 pipe according to that other thread.
He sad that it would fit after bending it like the others had to with -03 style pipe.

But i will just wait and see if he is right. :)
The pipe should arrive hopefully this week.

Hey!

By the way. Anyone know wich size it is for the o2 sensor connection.
I was goin to by a "weld on bung" as they wrote on the Powercommander site.
But i dont know wich size.
Standard size is 18x1,5 (in mm) if i remember correct.

Comments anyone?

you shouldnt need a 02 sensor...unless the XJ has one...my PC was plug and play no o2 sensor needed

XJ6 got the o2 sensor installed.
So i have to install it to my R6 exhaust by welding a new nut to put the o2 sensor in.
So my question was if anyone knew what size the thread was.

Sorry for explaining bad.

This is two pics of my progress making the R6 exhaust mod.
One is showing how it will look like when installed. But the angle is a little bit off.

The black tape is marking how long the silencer will be (from the front connection )

I have cutted the R6 pipe at the rear weld and will mount/ weld a small piece of the pipe that i got with the slipon there.

The slipon has aslo been shorted but i dont have a pic on that yet.
More will come

Wow that's short! Trying for a midship? Can't wait to see the finished product.

Yepp!

I think it measures about 36cm from one end to the other.
See pic... Thats how much i have shorten it.
And it will be fitted directly with the front pipe n just sticking out behind the right foot peg.

And i have to weld a M10 x 1,25 nut in the Y section to fit my O2-sensor as it is the XJ6 model.

That's looking damn good!

Gave me a new idea on this, I didn't really like it mounted to the side because you can see the pipes exposed a lot at the bottom.

Thanks!

I will post some more pics when everything is welded and another when all is installed.

To bad the bellypan is hitting the pipes now. So i have to do a distance bracket of some kind. So it will be moved down by about 2cm.

I have to do some of the welding at my work so you have to wait for a couple of days until it is all finnished. :)

Now the system is installed and tested.
I just say SH*T....what a deep tone it has when idling.
Sounds like a 1000cc but when you take off you hear that "stinger" 600cc sound.
Responce is definetly enhanced.
A little popping at testrun but i think it was mostly because of the AIS system.

Now the AIS airbox outlet is sealed with silicone.
Another test run will maybe be done today or tomorrow.

I will also make distancebrackets for my bellypan today. so i can lower it by about 2cm. It will melt otherwise cause it hits the new exhaust.
Pics of those will come also if you want.

Sorry, but i cant give you any pics or a vid right now because i got some probs with my home computor....cannot find soundcard....suddenly

When are you getting a dyno for a custom map for the PCV? Otherwise you'll run too rich.
